It follows the typical Atlus difficulty curve of being tough as nails up front before lightening up and eventually getting pretty easy as long as you learn its systems. There's one notorious boss in this one who's a real bastard, though.

Yeah, it's pretty difficult. Has some real obtuse mechanics that it doesn't even try to explain.

Buffs and debuffs are your friend and not everyone discovered that early on because they don't matter as much in other games.

Just a matter of learning the game, being careful, and eventually it's pretty exploitable. ... except for that one boss. I believe he's been patched in this version to not be 100% RNG dependent on whether you live or die.

On the actual hard mode you can die in the very first encounter and being ambushed is almost a death sentence for a lot of the game

The real news here is that it releases May 25th

Want to ask something. I haven't played this game. But I have p layed some persona games and some SMT games and Devil Survivors games.

What is the difference in this version with original? Will it have QOL changes? Also I heard it is super hard or something? I mean I guess I am used to SMT 4 Apocalypse which is way too good.

I don't know about all the updates, but at least there's an option to choose what skills pass on during fusion like the recent games have. That's a pretty big one.

It's got some QOL around the fusion system as mentioned (Original version's fusion system was more like Persona 3/4 for skill inheritance if you've ever played those, this one's more like what you'd be used to with SMT4A). I've also heard that a quicksave system was added, though I haven't actually checked that myself (The original game has a terminal system like SMT4/A, but they also functioned as save points and you could not save anywhere)

It's also got voice work and revamped graphics.

I think the difficulty of the game is largely overstated outside of three specific spots (The very first battle, as mentioned, you can lose on hard mode through no fault of your own, then there are two other bosses that are quite rough especially if you haven't grasped the battle system), but it's certainly more difficult than your average JRPG, and I would call it more difficult than 4/Apocalypse on the whole too.

So not much then...I guess though it has a lot of content and demons to collect/fuse? And you can wonder around in areas and go back in them and such?

It's a fantastic game for anybody who's interested in SMT and never played the original. But "HD Remaster" is a good term for it. It does not appear to be massively different from the original.

It's still the best SMT game
