I've gotten all the Monster Hunters since since 3 Ultimate, and for each one I've mained a different weapon (and usually had an alternative) because the idea of playing with the same weapon is boring to me. I think the only ones I haven't used yet are long sword, both lances, and hunting horn, minus the ranged weapons except bow. I don't think I was using Longsword and Great Sword too well, but I loved the other four weapons. Switchaxe is 100% going to be my main weapon though. It was the weapon that caught my eye back when I got Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. I've tried this series with three separate games and it's always been the same. It's the feedback loop my man. You fight some super strong monster and struggle against him. You persevere and finally beat him. Just barely. That's not good enough. So you go after the monster again, fight him over and over in attempt to truly say you have won over him. All the while, each time you fight him, you find you don't need to stock up on the maximum number of healing items anymore as you learn and respond appropriately to the monster and dodge their attacks more often. You respond to openings more and successfully attack more. After each and every successful hunt you find your runtimes decreasing in succession. Progress. That is Monster Hunter. At least the demo in which I have over 130 hours on, last I checked. You persevere and finally beat him. Just barely. That's not good enough. So you go after the monster again, fight him over and over in attempt to truly say you have won over him. All the while, each time you fight him, you find you don't need to stock up on the maximum number of healing items anymore as you learn and respond appropriately to the monster and dodge their attacks more often. You respond to openings more and successfully attack more. After each and every successful hunt you find your runtimes decreasing in succession. Progress. That is Monster Hunter. At least the demo in which I have over 130 hours on, last I checked.
