If Logan Paul loved pokemon, he would see how he has contributed to this, but he thinks the TCG is in a better state now, he is completely unaware of what's happening. Part of the problem was the timing because covid made it very hard for nintendo to meet demand. It is why vivid has a markup. All 2020 sets have a markup. But I can get most battle styles for msrp or a tiny bit above. Problem was heavily on Nintendo side. If you look at the pandemic and when darkness ablaze released everything starts to make more sense tbh. But yeah Paul for sure spotlighted it but laying blame for scalpers just isn't reality at all. Like most of what Paul did was spike the vintage market. Like yeah modern is a bit scalped and shining fates a stupid amount, but vintage went up like 500% and it has nothing to do with scalping. Not trying to say dude doesn't like money but I I watched his videos, and dude loves pokemon. To say otherwise is just saying to be cynical. Vintage pokemon is in a fun place as a collector if you were already in it. Markets change, move, collapse, etc. Sucks when its the thing you want, but it is what it is. Also like Chris said, if you are really devoted you can find stuff at MSRP. Easier if you don't have other stuff going on or if you have made it your job, but it is possible. I got every Amiibo at launch even when the fad was huge and only a few paid over MSRP. It is not any better with physical queues. They just hire people to stand in line and prevent people that want stuff from being able to get it. Scalper economy is horrible regardless of bots or not. You seem to want to place the blame on Paul, I choose to blame the people who go to extreme lengths to be shitty. Most of my ecosystem is the collecting side I will grant you, so I deal heavily in vintage although I bunch a crap ton of hidden fates (my favorite set of the last 10 years) and opened all of it. I am just saying in reality Paul effected the vintage side much more. Have full base, close to full 1st ed Fossil, probably close to full 1st ed Team Rocket, and some others thrown in. But yeah, even though the value has gone way up (even some old sealed Magic I have seems to have skyrocketed this last year) I can't say I'm happy about the current state of tcgs. I'd much rather be able to complete the old sets for sane amounts of money than have my old cards be worth a small fortune. If you're making a living off of it I can see why you like the guy. Like I was looking into buying vintage Digimon for the nostalgia of it and even those are crazy now and those didn't seem like they were ever worth anything. I have heard about that and it seems interesting but it actually requires a fair bit of knowledge and expertise to work Pokemon like I do.
