I don't really use it (albeit I don't play the Switch that much), but I'm on a family plan with my sister (she plays A LOT of Animal Crossing), so maybe? Depending on what game you play mostly or if there's a feature you're looking to use.

i was more looking at the games that come along with it, any opinion on that? and is it setup like the xbox line, where you need an account for any online interaction, like for animal crossing?

Yes. I would say so. They already have both Nintendo and Super Nintendo on it. And they add games on all the time. And good games, too. Like the Donkey Kong Country series and A Link to the Past and stuff. And I heard they plan to add more consoles and games, as well. And for only like $20 a year...

As for the account set-up, I think you need a Nintendo account, but you may already have one. Mine was apparently set-up with a Mii all the way back from when I have a Wii...

Also, I think I got free DLC stuff from Nintendo before for the account. I'm not sure if they do it super often, though...

Yeah I like having it just for the classic games alone. DKC2 and LttP are two of the best games ever

They add new SNES/NES games very rarely though.
Like three whole games every couple of months, which is pretty pathetic considering how many games they could possibly add from their vast catalogue of games.

only if you really need the mp.

the games aren't worth it, especially since they stopped putting out so many

The classic games are a nice perk, as is the occasional free week/end for some games, but the real reason for it is to play multiplayer. If you don't plan on playing any games online, I wouldn't bother.

That said, at only $20, it's not really prohibitively expensive. If you're on the fence about whether or not the online play will be worth it, you can take the plunge without losing much if it turns out not to be worthwhile. It also takes like 5 minutes to set up, though, so you can alternatively just hold off until you actually want to use it and not particularly suffer for having to jump through that hoop.

My kids use the Switch more than I do, and they love the virtual consoles. My oldest has been super into Mario Maker 2 as well, which has multiplayer so I pay for it for that mostly

I have a Super Nintendo as well as a SNES and NES mini, with most of the games we play on the VC, so I could probably ditch it, but like adjl says it's only $20 a month so I don't mind

Not really unless think you are going to play the NES/SNES games a lot, but as others said it is $20 a year, so it is not like a big investment or anything.

Lol no they don't, they add like 2-4 games every few months and usually it's trash nobody heard of from defunct third-tier developers. DKC is the exception, not the rule. ALttP was there at the start (like DKC probably should've been).

People have been saying this for three years now, they just like to try to will things into existence. Afaik there's little to no actual credibility behind any of those rumors

It's not worth it, but I play Switch games online, so I pay it. $20 a year isn't much.

I use it for online nintendo games like pokemon and smash.

It's not the best service but it's cheap and I have fun using it

Idk. Maybe its different now. I remember when they first started, it happened more recently. Like almost every time I went on, there was new stuff...

I mean, I said it before they added SNES. And they added SNES. So, I see no reason to not believe it. So far, its been the truth, so I dont see how its not credible...
