Surely Mein Kampf is more racist that this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8OsP-iDDF4

So why does it make sense for amazon to stop selling it but it doesn't make sense for amazon to stop selling Mein Kampf?

I think the most obvious answer would be "because of it's cultural/historical significance" but Dr. Seuss is also culturally/historically significant and the earlier books provide good context for his later works many of which are about celebrating inclusiveness and sympathy.

Can anybody justify this?

adults can purchase and fucking read mein kampf.

but why are you guys so weirded out by a store choosing not to house children's content that has bigoted ideas in it

it's not for adults so why do you care that a store no longer wants to sell it to adults who will give it to kids

what are you guys really saying hmmm

Wait, even ebay won't let you sell the books?

That's really fucked up. eBay is an infrastructure for people to sell things to each other, it generally shouldn't make decisions on what can't be sold unless it's illegal.

Publisher not wanting to make the book anymore? ok

Amazon/eBay banning people from selling it? 1984 shit.

I have you tagged. You always fall on one side of issues like this. Hell, if you dispute it, then just say so here. Say "I don't think such companies should have been pressured to stop selling the books."

Because if that is literally what you believe but are still asking me to "prove" you believe it, that's just asinine.

CyricZ posted...

So what if amazon banned everybody running an AWS service from selling it. Would you acknowledge then that it's not ok?

Without googling it, where can you easily buy or sell the book?

Like I said before if all of our modern society/economy is funneled through a few monopolies then for us to have the same freedoms we claim to have as a culture then those companies would need to function in accordance with those freedoms.

"You can sell the book, just not anywhere that people can buy it" is like saying "you can protest, just not anywhere you can be heard" it goes against our societies principles.

I'm not calling for it to be destroyed, just have policies more in keeping with a public utility if it is a hyper monopoly.

This is a really stupid take, imo. You don't have to blind yourself to the concentrated power of companies like Amazon - and the real dangers posed by that - to say that it's fine the racist cartoons aren't getting sold anymore.
