That money has to go into a shared pot to subsidize the costs of care per individual. The vast majority of this will not be a noticeable net difference for 99% of people because their true costs of getting quality healthcare (America does have quality care when you can afford it) are so high that the small tax any of you would pay is offset greatly.

I would gladly pay a higher tax (and most ppl here are not at an income bracket where they'd notice the higher tax)

Do you have a mortgage? If so pay it a week late, you'll get a letter. It won't effect your credit or draw a late fee BUT gives you a paper trail showing you had a financial hardship (difficulty paying mortgage) which then makes you exempt from the individual mandate.

It would be even better if Republicans hadn't fucked it over and forced it to take out a public option.
