3) Missouri- I feel bad for anyone that had to take that I44 route from Oklahoma to St louis :(
The only problematic thing that I can think of with this is that it's almost exclusively 2-lane highways that are often racked by flooding during the winter and spring. When that happens, you have to detour and some of those can be a motherfucker when the next interstate is upwards of an hour out of the away. Outside of being narrow as hell, it's really not bad under normal conditions.

Washington State is pretty bad. Going over the border is bad enough, but when you hit the I-5 outside Seattle it just turns into a free for all.

I remember a few years back it rained a bunch and basically the entire interstate shut down from Rolla to Lebanon. Everyone had to detour through Rolla and I'm not sure I've ever seen such packed traffic in my life.

I've driven through Georgia bottom to top and top to bottom because I live in Florida, and I must say, it takes almost an eternity to get out of that state. I agree about the drivers being nuts and once you get into proximity of Atlanta, you need to be on alert to get through that traffic. It's relentless.

I-10 to Jacksonville is brutal as well. 5 plus hours of straight driving with nothing but pine trees and cops hiding in the middle.

Kansas and Iowa are the two worst Ive driven through. Ive never been through Nebraska, but I figure its on par with those two.

I'd imagine most Mid West states are. I grew up in Illinois and drove through Wisconsin and Iowa quite a bit. Outside of the urban areas it's just boring. The one nice thing was making good time outside of those urban areas. More often than not I had empty road and just set the cruise control at 90 mph and blasted where I needed to get without having to adjust.

I will add, driving to Chicago, near O'Hare within a week of getting my license was a butt clenching experience.

It's deceptive coming in the first time. I came down my first time driving and misjudged how long it would take and ended up nodding off somewhere on 95. Don't know if it was 5 second or 5 minutes. It scared the hell out of me though and I vowed to never try that again.

Maybe it's because I grew up in the Midwest, but I find those "flat" states like Kansas and Indiana soothing to drive through (especially at night) and charming in their own way.

It's illegal to drive through parking lots unless you're using the facilities.

Ive lived right outside of Chicago my entire life, about 15-20 minutes from OHare, so I know what you mean. During my second behind-the-wheel drivers ed lesson, my instructor took me onto a highway and told me to keep up with the speed of traffic. So I was driving 80+ mph on just my second time on the road.

Still dont think that was a smart way of teaching someone... <_<;

That's insane. For me it was a shock because I came from a small town of 15,000. I had been to Chicago multiple times but driving there my first time was terrifying. I will say the benefit is I was never scared about driving to new places anymore after that. I may not like it, but I'm not scared of it as long as it's not some infamous death road or something.

Confirmed. And keep in mind that CT won an award for having the nation's worst roads two or three years in a row (while coming in third for worst-maintained bridges, I think tied with NJ but I can't remember)

The drivers are speed demons and theres always roadkill to avoid. I was following a truck once and a friggin buck corpse emerged from hiding and I prayed to the road gods as I went right over it.
