The journey to crown a new champion is in full swing, as the 2020 BattleBots World Championship Tournament continues tonight.

Tonight, we'll be seeing the first round matches on the right-hand side of the bracket, including last year's runner-up Witch Doctor and top seeds Bloodsport and Copperhead in action. You can see the full bracket by clicking the link above, but keep in mind that it does show the results of last week's matches, so don't accidentally get yourself spoiled if you're not fully caught up! Showtime is a little over half an hour away, so tune in and find out whose championship hopes (and whose brackets) will be busted.

Definitely. My favorite part was Tantrum parading Fusion's burning carcass around the arena. That was metal as fuck.

I am always watching, just a little after y'all. What a sick day of matchups. I'm a Mammoth fan, so what a nice surprise to see, lol. I don't know if I really see it going any further than the round of 16, though, but how awesome is that?

Shatter is what Beta failed to be: a masterpiece.

The ending of Tantrum/Fusion was yet another iconic moment of the season, fun fight, couldn't tell who was going to come through in the end.

Bloodsport to me was the clear winner of its fight. It basically damaged itself, and obviously did something to Gruff considering what the aftermath was.

I'm a WD fan, but I ain't gonna lie, even with the new disks, I still am not fully on-board with them winning. Maybe it's just me, but they feel like they don't have the oomph they had last year that propelled them to the finals. It's biggest strength is durability, though. That bot can take some.

Good episode but I disagree with the Mammoth win. Mammoth didn't do shit other than flip Copperhead over a few times. I get where the judges were coming from but Copperhead did more damage and stayed relatively aggressive even when the main weapon went down.

Anyone else really hoping for an Uppercut vs Tomestone semi-final match?

They managed to get it flipped over a few times, which is counted as damage.

I'm fine with them giving points for that, since there's lots of compact bots that have nothing to tear up on the outside. Even if the first 10 hits don't do visible damage, if the 11th makes the bot stop moving, obviously the first hits were doing something. For all we know, those flips were thrashing the internals of Copperhead.

I missed the topic last week, but yeah. Beta fell to scrap the moment they had to actually fire their weapon to win. But Shatter though? It's putting in work to make people think that hammers are a workable concept. Side Note: Props to Ribbot for going ham last week.

That being said, Shatter's bracket puts them up against Mammoth. Unless they nail the perfect shot to remove Mammoth's wheels or bend out a key structural support beam the next fight is going to be a tough one for them.

I hear that they actually have fought before, although under different names, but the same bot (I think BB owns the names of the bots, idk fully). Shatter ended up winning that fight. I know the battlebots reddit shared the vid.

Well Copperhead losing just fucked half my bracket. Thankfully it is bad for most the people I'm playing with too. I agree with the call though. Mammoth busted Copperhead's weapon for half the fight, which is more notable damage than anything Copperhead did to it and also has much more control in the fight. I also think they split aggression since they were just both gunning for the other the entire fight.

I actually think Mammoth has a good shot at the next round too. It's design will be tricky for a hammer bot.

Bloodsport losing its weapon on the first hit also had me sweating but he turned it around.

I don't actually know how I want next week to go with Mammoth and Shatter.

I like both bots, but moreso Mammoth just because he funny. On the other hand, I like seeing bots that try to fight spin to win make it far, and I really only see Shatter having a viable shot tbh. I just don't really see Mammoth making waves in the Elite Eight.
