Drpooplol 02/23/21 11:04:44 AM #1:	Ya people building explosive devices and starting wildfires is dumb, but that shit isn't exclusive to these parties. "Gender Reveal" is a misnomer in the first place. The exciting part isn't inherently that the baby is a "boy" or "girl" and the stereotypical normatives that often come with those labels, the exciting part is that the baby that is growing inside a mother's womb is healthy enough to get to that point, and it's the first part of the baby that you can tell is developing in a unique matter. You want to tell my friend who has had to go through IVF and has had 3 miscarriages that she isn't allowed to be excited about her baby's development and have a party? You want to tell that same thing to my wife who is currently 38 weeks pregnant and has given up her body, energy, and life for the last 266+ days to growing this baby that she shouldn't have been excited about his development? Fuck that. We don't plan on enforcing gender norms at all on our baby, and fuck we worked hard to find a gender-neutral name for him in case he isn't cis. But you can fuck off if you think we're not allowed to celebrate our baby's healthy development. If you have a problem with the name of the parties, that's fair. If you have a problem with gender norms, that's fair. It took me several years and IVF transfers to get pregnant. I have no desire for a party to celebrate the gender. Im just happy to be having a healthy baby. If people want to do it, thats fine but at least stick to the frosting color reveals and not these excessive displays. With the pandemic, Im not even doing a baby shower. Instead we are just planning a party for after baby is born. Were hoping by this summer with all the vaccines out, well be able to host it and celebrate. The owner had done it several times before, and it just happened to malfunction at the gender reveal party.
