My computer used to do that. It would turn itself on for like 5 seconds and then turn back off. Dunno why but it hasnt done it in several months.

pretty sure i had this problem a long while ago, i think a signal from my router or something was cutting it back on. just make sure your PC is actually shutting down, and not defaulting to hibernate. its a worthless setting if you've got SSD anyway.

Your computer probably wasn't actually shut down.

People hating on windows 10 is like hating on iphones at this point. Who gives a shit what you think and all the issues anyone points out we're either fixed years ago from feedback or they were just flat wrong.

No windows cannot turn your computer on from a shutdown. Hell, only the bios can do that and that's mother board specific.

And if it did, it was to update. "but my unsaved work"

What fucking unsaved work so you have? Why are folks still not saving your work when you get up from the computer? Are you from the past? Do you not wear seatbelts either?

Sleep or shut down?
I dunno much about sleep, but you could try turning off fast startup if it's enabled. Apparently it could be a cause, not to mention it causes other wonky software issues. So I've had it disabled.

If you don't know where to find it, you can find it under Control panel > system and security > power options > change what the power buttons do.
Then at the bottom you'll need to click the 'change currently unavailable settings' or whatever it's called, it's got the windows shield. Then disable fast start up.

I only mention this, because it's on by default, causes random issues and might kick the system on for updates.

Failing that it could be a power supply or power button issue.

My Windows 10 computer did this quite a bit, even after disabling certain things (like fast startup).

Don't know how many things I changed to stop it. Eventually even disabled the mouse and keyboard from being allowed to wake the computer up, too. Now it just slumbers away until I hit the power button itself.

hopefully this is the last time this happens (until W10 resets my settings the next time it updates. because, again, it thinks it knows better than us.)

Yeah, there's so many weird settings like that. My previous machine I shut it down like normal and instead of powering off, windows went away, but the psu/case was still humming away for over an hour as if on.

It only happened once, but it left me in a state of "wat do"

For closure I ended up forcing it off with the case button. Pretty sure it was the psu misbehaving.
