Not gonna lie, 90% of the vid being about TASes (and one lap TASes) is kinda... boring?

TASes are cool and all but isn't really what I watch summoningsalt for, if that makes sense.

The struggle of someone playing a certain level or game over and over to finally get that slightly better time doesn't really compare to someone just slowing the game down frame by frame with savestates to get a better time on one single lap >_>

Yeah it was still interesting in parts but I have no interest in TAS runs, at least not in this context. That's only interesting if it's a lead to a real playing pulling it off or something similar.

ACTUALLY, the mental taxation caused by the detail-oriented nature of a TAS is just as interesting, but it takes a high IQ to understand the nuances of a TAS.

The Mario 2 video from a month ago was fantastic.

And there has been some interesting WR activity for SMB1 in the past year so I expect he's already putting together a new SMB1 video or he's allowing some more time to play out to see if a 4:54 comes through first.

I'm cool with a TAS video to switch things up a bit.

What I would really enjoy are more non-Mario, non-NES speedruns. I've heard Doom is a really fun one to watch.

Yeah there definitely a ton of other games and stories he could cover, the problem is a bunch of other speed running channels have popped up in the mean time that have already covered other interesting stories.

As for this video, I think ultimately even though a lot of these are only currently possible in TAS the Mario Kart community in general find ways, or other ways to make these things work, so I wouldn't be surprised a few years down the road that these are done in real time.

I was very satisfied with the video. 3 discoveries in one day, new techniques being discovered, and for people who wanted more attempt grinding, the ending was fantastic.
