No, those are probably dead by that point. Oysters can't live outside of the water and they'd be prone to temperature as well, I should imagine.

...oh, I stand corrected.

I've only ever had them cooked, and I imagine the same is true for most people.

The process of chewing would kill them. Most animals that are eaten alive die during chewing. However, there are ways of serving other animals where you bypass the chewing process, although it has to be done carefully because it's fucking dangerous. There was a CSU episode where people were eating live octopus and, depending on how the tentacles were angled during the process, it was either safe or lethal.

But what if what you eat is you?

So like, if somebody cannabalizes me someday, does that mean I become them?

existential questions

I'm just wondering >o>

When I say "cooked," I mean either boiled (like they do with most shellfish) or boiled then served in pasta. I'm not talking some avant garde crap.

If I'm having oysters, I'm eating them the same way that I do clams and mussels. I'm not some weird uncooked thing where I have to worry about food poisoning.

Google is being weird. I wanted to ask google if it is legal to eat live animals.

After getting to "is it legal to eat" Google suggested a bunch of exotic animals like turtles, penguins, kangaroo and dolphins, but also lists something as mundane as horse... Why would people wonder that, if I can just get it from every supermarket I know of. It is not some rare meat that is "naughty" to get or something, it is literally all around...

Because no one eats live animals really, for a good chunk of animals eating them raw is actually dangerous and you can get very sick. Very few animals can be safely consumed when alive.

Other animals have different digestion systems and thus why they thrive on live or raw meat. I also think most live animals would resist trying to be eaten, if you have a wolf let's say fully alive and you put him on a plate the second you try to cut into the meat he would freak out and fight back. Even in the world of animals, they usually kill the animal before eating it.

What? He was wondering why people would ask whether or not it's legal to eat horse meat.

I think in the past it was put into dog food, I'm not sure if that is still being done though. I also don't think they ever harvested horses for that, it was just horses that died of natural causes.
