In my playthrough topics of MGS1 through MGS4 I've made a best boss fight poll. Thought it would be fun to ask about the overall best. The choices are based on those poll results. The first game had by far the biggest spread in votes, so it gets the most options. MGS2 and MGS4 had a very clear winner, so they get only one each. MGS3 was a race between two with nothing else coming close. Maybe something good is missing from V or another game, but so be it.

No other MGS boss made me feel the way I did after beating Metal Gear Ray(s) on European-Extreme mode in MGS2. So I voted that.

From a gameplay point of view I'd say The End, and from a story telling point if view, I'd say The Boss

The Boss. Liquid Ocelot is a bad fight. Its not even the best fanservice fight in MGS4!

Laughing Octopus and The Fury came to mind.

Most of these options are bad. The End and Rays and Psycho Mantis are solid though. Complete lol at Revolver Ocelot being on it-- maybe if it was MGS3 Ocelot I could possibly go with it but MGS1 Ocelot is a bottom tier fight in the series.

Yeah, this is no personal preference.

The first poll was also unfair to Sniper Wolf as she had two fights and it probably split her votes, but it was by far the closest one. Psycho Mantis won it. Ironically now he's off to a fine start with the others being still at 0 votes. The End won the poll for MGS3, yet so far The Boss is winning overall.

Agreed. Fighting The Boss is special. Got my vote.

The Sniper Wolf battles were excellent as well.

Should've been Sniper Wolf or the Harrier here instead of the first Ocelot fight.

Not sure who I'd pick between Liquid Ocelot, The End, or The Boss. They're all great.

MGS1 Ocelot is like the worst boss fight in the game and doesn't even come close to measuring up to later cover-based handgun bosses, aka Olga and MGS3 Ocelot.

To me The End is the most unique and cool. But The Boss wins.

Fortune, and I know that's going to be unpopular. As a set piece, seeing the room get blown apart was really cool.

How does MGS1 Revolver Ocelot even have a vote? Did they mistake it for MGS3 Ocelot?

I agree with this actually. I found it to be a very fun and intense challenge. MGS2 handles difficulty levels better than any game I've played.

It appears that The Boss kept almost every vote she got in the MGS3 poll, while the ones weighting gameplay higher are more split now than then, where The End managed to beat her.

If I were to pick my 9 favorites, I'd switch Revolver Ocelot and Liquid Snake for Laughing Octopus and either Crying Wolf or Sniper Wolf (or The Sorrow if it counts, which I'm still not sure I think it does).
