Had a 2x Echoform 1x Creative AI run last week with Mummified Hand. Also had 2x White Noise, it was hilarious, so many powers.

I've been trying to clear Ascension 19 with Ironclad to no avail, when I get a good wincon card, I never get supplementaries. Like, I get an early Barricade, then I find no big block cards or entrench. If I get an early Limit Break, then I find no strength cards or relics, or headbutt for that matter.

It sucks :(

Anything above A15 is borderline unfair, so I don't blame you for struggling.

Only bugs I've encountered is the screen occasionally whiting out, pausing after some encounters finish, and base Phantasmal Killer costing 0 instead of 1.

Watcher > Ironclad > Defect > Silent, but Silent may have an edge over Defect with the shiv card buffs.

that happens a lot, but i've had creative AI draws that just simply outscaled the awakened one's strength gain. even the awakened one falls to max orb slots, a bunch of frost orbs and 10+ focus.

Its beatable, its just hard as fuck. I've beaten A20, but my win% is in the teens with all four characters and I don't even fight the heart.

i'd agree with garioshi's order of character ranking, although i have the most A20 wins on silent for some reason and watcher has my lowest win rate at the moment, but I get further on average with her

Had a great A7 run as Defect. Then the Time Wizard showed up. Might as well just turn the game off when I see him at the top of the screen.

I was kinda of the opinion silent was the worst character before and now they're second best (since obviously no one is better than watcher)

blade dance going from 2(3) to 3(4) is massive, at first glance it's now a 12 (16) damage common!! that lets you distribute damage, which is already good, but it has the obvious extra synergy with strength, after image, thousand cuts, etc. there's also a bunch of artifacts that have triggers on 3 attacks in a turn which it can now do unupgraded by itself

It's just the RNG that's extremely unfair, since for most runs and especially Ascension runs, you need the right combination of relics and cards.

Like, Corruption is subpar without Dead Branch and stuff like Feel No Pain. Same for Limit Break without Flex, Enflame or some strength relics.

Most runs are indeed unbeatable, because seeds are already in place and most of the time you won't be getting the stuff you need. I always reset after first boss if I haven't gotten a good deck going, because Act II is hell and I'll lose tons of HP.

The Watcher was the last character I "beat" the game with, and it took me over 100 attempts, at least, at A1. I've "beaten" an A3 with Ironclade once. I have never beaten The Heart

I have 337 hours on Steam, and I don't know how many on my Switch, and I think I have "beat" the game about, eh, 17-20 times. It's a cheating pile of shit, but I love it, lol

Also, I don't know if it was TC who did the YouTube video for me [thanks again if you are], but I don't do what you do. I don't quit in the middle of a battle and restart the fight again when I get into a bad position. If I die, I die. I didn't even know you COULD do that until I watched the video.

uh I'm not sure I'd agree here. most runs are beatable the problem is just that everyone in this topic including me sucks at the game <_<

like, there's a lot of options and ways you can do things and it's pretty rare that you're just gonna lose when you have that much freedom. the problem is that because there are so many things you can do, it's hard to find the right things to do

i'd also disagree with most runs being unbeatable. i'm pretty sure jorbs wins more runs than he loses at least.

I wouldn't call something game breaking when you're playing on A4, but I can certainly see why sundial would be powerful in a deck that slim with that much card draw.

I realized after watching a1 while writing this that you didn't explicitly ask for feedback so I stopped here but if you want I'll do the rest of the video too. also I'm not some super pro player or anything so it's not like this is all 100% perfect advice but it should at least be helpful

shop: not as much of a deal on low ascensions but going too intense on removing strikes very early (before you have anything to use in their place) can leave you with a ddeck too weak to actually kill anything so watch out for that

first upgrade: loop over zap imo

life for relic event: I'd just keep going until I got it there, you're about to fight a 1 hp elite so that's a free fight anyway and you're full health

rest afterward: massive mistake. it's not even the full rest, you have lots of health to spare atm, you have a pretty good upgrade (loop). basically no reason to ever rest here

skip from the elite: another mistake. nothing in your deck actually does anything atm (it might be weaker than the starter deck lol) so you need to pick something up. coolheaded is solid all around, chaos is sort of a meme but rolling a dark orb with it has good loop synergy

jaw worm: you didn't take your gold or even look at the card reward from this fight.....

pathing: normally I'd say you should have taken the elite here but your deck is extremely weak atm so probably better you avoided it. in general though the fact that your deck is so weak you are averse to fighting elites from full health is already kind of bad and I'd recommend trying to fight 2+ elites in act1 every time

double slimes: after killing green you should have just blocked for 10, you almost certainly would have made it out of this fight with no damage. also you didn't play your 0 cost zap

pathing: normal fights this late in the act kinda suck and the question mark would probably be better. Main benefit of the normal fights is guaranteed card rewards to make your deck better but you didn't even do anything with those

bug boys: didn't strike when you had 1 energy left at the end of turn 2 for no reason, not that it mattered here. you need more damage right no not more block so I'd probably have gone with the bullseye (especially considering almost all your damage right now is from dark/lightning orbs)

slaver: you blocked against no damage when you could have dualcasted instead of something. again, you need damage right now, I would have taken ball lightning here

slimes: first turn lol.

pre-boss rest: I feel like you probably could have gotten away with upgrading loop here instead. It has extremely good synergy with dark orb especially against slime boss

slime boss: a little unfortunate on late darkness draw. could have played the slime instead of defend on the turn you split it. you could also have targetted the dualcast onto green slime specifically by striking it first. You also didn't need to block the turn you split green slime and gotten a better split though it didn't matter here. Most important part of this fight is getting a good first split which you did pretty well so nice.

boss relic: I sort of like pyramid here? lets you save dualcast for the right moment which is your main way of hitting things atm, and also might help improve your draws by holding a bunch of strikes/defends in your hand. You don't really have a bunch of great cards in your deck so choker will probably just be 1 more strike per turn or something

Some of the mistakes are because some of the buttons on the Switch are different than on my PC's controller. So when I skipped rewards or went back and in a few times on menus, it's because those are the buttons on the Switch, lol

watched the first few minutes and checked the end, congrats on the victory.

interesting early pathing decisions. i like to aim for 2-3 elites per act if i can get away with it, so i tend to go for attacks early on so i can take on elites, but you started removing attacks before you had any. Thats a good way to die to elites. Elites are great if you can survive them, and you need to be able to survive them to win boss fights.

interesting. Did you stop progressing with the others because of picking it up on mobile or because you got stuck?

I kept my progress even (aside from watcher who didn't exist yet when I cleared ironclad, silent and defect), and I've rotated characters with each run ever since I beat watcher's A20.

heart or no heart? I was in the area of 6-12 A20 wins with each character(silent had 10-12, the rest were around 6-10), but I don't fight the heart. It probably would've been higher, but I stopped playing for awhile after beating A20 initially, than when i came back, I played on A16, then A19 for awhile, until i moved back up to A20.

A2 stuff, I'll watch A3 later

first fight: that enemy always statuses turn 2 so you don't want to rebound a defend turn 1. also streamline is more an earlygame anti elite card and you probably don't want to be picking it in act 2, it's not powerful enough to keep up

second fight: that potion only blocked 5 damage which is pretty poor value, I could understand using it MAYBE if you had no more free slots but you do. Also you played loop instead of dualcast for lethal and took 10 damage because of it

shop: please buy the defragment it's so good especially since you are just removing even more and more non-orb sources of damage from your deck. It's honestly one of the best defect cards imo, gives you both block and damage for the rest of the fight and only costs 1 energy

third fight: should have played core surge instead of strike, it does more damage and also gives you an artifact charge which is great since the enemy is literally just about to hit you with a debuff. Also play your FTL first, the whole point of the card is that it replaces itself if you play it early in the turn (but really you shouldn't have even bought it). and if you don't play it first at least play it at some point, you're literally passing up on free damage

knight + healer: I strongly recommend killing the kinght first. Things worked out ok this time but it's usually a lot safer since if you kill the knight first you just have this really easy healer to fight afterward, while if you kill the healer first the knight enrages and can deal massive damage. Killing the knight first is also easier than you'd think since it only ever blocks for the healer rather than for itself

boss fight: nothing really wrong here considering you get a full heal afterward and have health to spare. but a general tip: this boss powers up immensely once you knock it below half health. This means it's best to fight it by taking your time to power up while blocking its weaker early attacks, get it to like 55%, and then trying to just blast away with as much damage as you can. for your deck specifically this would mean just sitting like 5 turns with a dark orb in your first slot being careful not to use any other orb cards, and then dualcasting it for 250ish damage

boss relic: slavers collar is ok but considering you tend to avoid elites instead of fighting them I'm not sure how much value you'd really get out of it. might be better off with sozu since your potion slots are full already anyway

in general: be more careful with your dark orbs. they're very powerful when looped in the first slot, and very powerful when dualcasted, but you tend to cycle through them without really letting them charge which misses out on a lot of their power. the fact that they're providing a lot of your damage overall is also kinda a sign you should have upgraded loop earlier because it has very strong synergy with dark orbs

Very good if you can get it in A1, less good early A2, I'd kinda avoid it any later than that. The upgrade kinda sucks. The two big things to keep in mind with it are:

1) It's basically a curse until you've played it a few times, at which point it's a starter defend for a few more fights. You need a deck that can afford to have a junk card for a few fights without taking a bunch of damage for it.

2) You need to actually play it in fights. That means pathing through fights is a little better than before, and also means you need to find a place to play it in the fight. This might mean dragging the fight out longer instead of winning when you can just so you can play it. But you don't want to trade a bunch of health for it so it can sometimes require careful playing to use well

also, its worth playing first card if you have echo form active, since it upgrades twice.
