Czech firearms company Ceska Zbrojovka has signed a deal to acquire Colt, the American gun maker that helped develop revolvers in the 19th century and has since supplied the armed forces in the U.S. and other countries.
Ceska Zbrojovka Group SE said Friday that it has purchased all the shares in Colt Holding Company LLC, the parent company of Colts Manufacturing Company LLC and its Canadian subsidiary, Colt Canada Corp.

The deal is worth $220 million and 1,098,620 newly issued shares in Ceska Zbrojovk and is subject to approval by regulators. The Czech company said it expected the transaction to be completed in the second quarter of 2021.
With this strategic move, CZG will acquire significant production capacity in the United States and Canada and substantially expand its global customer base, the Czech company said.
The Czech company has some 1,650 workers in the Czech Republic, United States and Germany.

From what I've read the firearm community is pretty positive about this because CZ has really good quality control and they're hoping it will revive the Colt brand.

CZ pistols are absolute darlings. I just hope whatever pot-metal and walleyed tooling left over from Colt's factories doesn't screw up new production runs.

Worst youre going to get from people is old timers who arnt in the game anymore who are nostalgic. almost no one is hating this decision specifically because Colts QA has went to shit over the last decade and a half and they have refused to change or innovate instead trying to sail by on their name alone with over priced firearms. not to say they still cant make good stuff, but nowadays you can get the exact same thing for 30% less only it doesnt have Colt on the side.

While a part of me is kinda sad that its a not an american maker, CZ in general makes really quality stuff and always has for decades and their 1911 line of pistols (made by also acquired Dan Wesson) are some of the best you can get and could be a match made in heaven.

Weren't colt's offerings horribly overpriced for what they were?

I like guns. If I was rich I'd have more than the 3 I do. And I'd get the 100 year old .410 fixed to not be dangerous as fuck.

I always thought about getting an sks for the hell of it but even then... meh. I have the .22 semi auto for plunking at shit.

The sks was a lot cheaper 6 or 7 years ago. They've been climbing the last couple years because the russian stock is drying up. Getting harder to get non-Chinese surplus ammo too (I was able to get ukranian ammo easily when I bought mine).

My next will probably be a lever or bolt action rifle of some sort.

Heard about this a while ago, Colt doesn't have much to offer CZ outside of their government connections and an up and running Class II SOT. The Canadian service pistol is a little add on bonus.

Interesting. Although hopefully a good thing, since I more recall Colt for their designs these days, not what they're selling. Like, you've got the 1911 and the Single Action Army. But I honestly can't think of a product they have now that I'd want.

Now, a CZ Skorpian, I would very much like to have.

I actually found one for sale at a local gun store, but it was a hard pass for me cause of the $2500 price tag. Fortunately, Brownells makes some comparable retro rifles for a fraction of the cost.

Keep an eye out for just the parts themselves. I found that Brownells has discontinued their OG AR10 set ups and building from the parts only cost around $400 without magazines.
