I dont see the appeal of penny stocks tbh.

Investing in them is basically gambling unless you actually know a lot about the company (which is unlikely if their stock is a penny stock)

Think of the stock market like a ladder.

Penny stocks are where the poor and working class go to turn anywhere from $5 to a few hundred into a few hundred or a few thousand (they can afford it and any serious gamblers usually go bankrupt quickly at this stage to filter people out for higher cost stock). The more you make, you just move up to buying more expensive shares and playing with more serious investors.

Edit: and penny stocks are also where the rich play their pump and dump games for quick cash.

You dont need a margin account for stock or to buy calls and puts. A margin account is required for high level options though, such as selling naked calls and puts. If youre not into that I wouldnt recommend margin.

@Lebronwon The interface is archaic but it's a stable platform imo. If you're gonna do anything more than just buying the occasional stock I'd recommend checking out their Active Trader Pro app for the desktop. It still looks old (reminds me of WinMX lmao) but you can pull up charts on the fly and put in orders and get real time information really quickly.

Fidelity is insanely stupidly slow lol took 2 weeks to link my bank account (they said it would be 3 business days) and now that it's actually linked, they say I can't actually transfer money from it for another 3-4 business days.

Just whenever I go to buy a penny stock it shows a negative balance even if I'm buying an insanely small amount

That is weird, I had everything set up in a matter of minutes and could buy stuff instantly (not sell though since you need to wait for the buy order to fully clear/cash to settle for it).

Well, you might always try another service. Might be a good sign maybe you will find something better

That is what I'm thinking, I opened a account with them last week and everything from linking my bank information to getting my deposit settled and ready to trade only took 4 days

that being said I want to move on from them immediately and go to Charles Schwab since Fidelity has a terrible habit of blocking a lot of penny stocks

Might be your bank ? I use BoA and it takes 1 day for transfers.
