There are so many points where they could have just hit the brakes somewhat and made better decisions like call some kind of social worker or something to figure things out, or at least just calmly talk to the parents and explain if they needed to take the 9 year old into custody so that the parents could reassure her and explain what was happening. Why were they even harassing this girl to begin with?!

It's mostly the newer cops that are more worried about causing fear and having power rather than helping. My mom has seen a surge in it recently, and it's mostly the new ones...

I don't think I can blame the individual cops in this case... yes, it's douchy - but they did follow their prescribed doctrine to the letter.

Yes, the "police" are to blame... this is unacceptable, but I don't think I can hold it against the specific officers.

edit: not sure if it should be their supervisor, Lt, captain, commissioner or state that should be punished... but it would be one of them
