I liked the pricing on the 1/22 $5 call so I grabbed 6 of em today. Seems much like with AMC there is some upside with or without WSB which makes it intriguing

Looks like Express starting going up a bit late Friday, then skyrocketed once Citron was bullied into abandoning GameStop. You cant make this stuff up.

A guy on my discord says that Nokia (NOK) is the next WSB play and that they're going for a "gamma squeeze," whatever that is, which could happen that week.

But uh Ameritrade says the short interest in the float is miniscule, so I don't get it. Think I'll stick with AMC baby

A gamma squeeze is when so many options are sold that institutions are forced to buy stock to cover them, making the price go up.
Softbank did this last year (buying options) and made a lot of money.

So 40k options expiring in the money on friday would mean creating demand to buy 4million shares. Nokia has 5 billion shares outstanding according to my broker. I'm sure that *could* cause a spike, but would it really be much?

Even if the price goes to $7, it'd be 200k options, which is 20 mil shares. Still looks like a drop in the bucket?

I think WSB's impact on things is getting overplayed. The main reason this stuff is happening is that shorts set themselves up for this. If making money in the markets was as easy as buying shares or calls in any company with a relatively low market cap at large volume to drive up the price, lots of hedge funds would be doing it. But it normally doesn't work, because you have to sell to profit....and when you do, you are going to be selling at high volume, driving the price down. It's like running a pump and dump on yourself.

No, WSB isn't dumb enough to do it either with any random company. The actual stock, and the short positions in it, matter.

Open interest for options always reflects the previous days total. But based on the 300 million volume today, there were likely a lot of new positions opened.

Not that i think you won't possibly make money from it, but i think something like amc or nok is a lot safer. gme at this point is approaching gambling levels imo

Hmm....so the big reversal in GME today came at the exact same time that the entire market went on a short and steep fall. Like, GME and SPX peaked at the same MINUTE, at 10:47. SPX bottomed out at 11:10 and GME bottomed out at 11:12. I feel like there has to be a connection here - maybe something to do with a major hedge fund experiencing liquidity/solvency issues. Of course, SPX came right back and closed less than 1 point away from where it was at 10:47, as it naturally would.

Edit: Meanwhile, during those 23 minutes of hard crashing for the market.....the VIX barely moved. And it was down a little, actually. Normally VIX spikes like crazy when the market experiences a steep drop like that. Very weird.

Doesn't really matter much to me. I think both AMC and NOK have long term potential worst case so even if they dont spike immediately you can just long hold them.

I think GME also has long term value, but not worth what its currently at
