if a skilled attacker wants to break in, you can't stop them.
but if you buy decent quality locks that are hard to pick and aren't suseptible to other easy attacks (i.e. electronic locks are easily opened by external magnets), and then i dunno put metal bars over your windows or something thats probably the best you're going to be able to do
put your valuables in a high quality safe
cameras wont do anything to prevent entry (unless we're talking about complete idiots who walk up to the front door and see a "this place has cameras" sticker and runs away). but get them anyway so if someone does break in you have video evidence

Make sure the house is locked up tight. If someone really wanted to get in they still could buy making it harder for them helps. have visable camera all around, have alarm system and sign. And old school trick I don't know if this helps are not leave a TV on so it sounds like someone is at home .

If you don't mind telling us, do you live in high crime area ?

Ah I didn't realize you posted the scam topic. I doubt people like that would be ballsy enough to start doing break in's after already showing themselves at your property. Just keep your doors and windows locked and you shouldn't have to worry.

The bark is the deterrent. No one wants to break into a place with a dog. Risky and noisy.

Do you own your home?

If so, change the locks, get really good deadlocks and get bars for your windows.

sensors with bright lights. last thing thieves want is a bright spotlight on them.

of course, if you live in an area where break ins usually happen during daytime... xd

my dog is scary looking. huge deterrent. then again not many break-in's happen around here.

our house did get burglarized once because of a dispute when my step-grandmother left. though i got all my stuff out in time. ended up having a really old bible. leather jacket and the house's wooden cabinets taken (nothing of mine was gone).

My house is out in the country, not visible by any of my neighbors. So it is a concern that someone might pull up to my house and clear it out while nobody is home.

I have Netgear Arlo cameras around all sides of my house. The Arlo app sends notifications to my phone if they pick up motion, automatically uploads recordings to the cloud, and they have decent night vision. They work pretty well.

Now, if someone really wants to get into my house, they can and will. But I'll be able to quickly call the police and my relatives who live up and down the road from my house to intervene.
