If only one side is toasted, how do you orient the toasted sides?

I define a piece of bread as having two sides, an inside and an outside. I declare that the outside of the bread is toasted. I proceed to make my sandwich as normal, orienting the sides as per normal for a slice of bread in three dimensional space.

I can't even imagine a scenario where only one side of the bread is toasted, but if that were the case I would put the toasted, or 'harder' side of the bread on the outside of the sandwich.

I pictured a hoagie-type loaf. The outside is the crust, and the inside is toasted. So I thought it might be the same for sliced bread, but you'd probably either put it in a toaster or grill both sides.

I can't imagine how you would toast the inside of a sandwich only.

(other reasons) Yeah, but you wouldn't toast specifically the inside half of the bread. The broken toaster? Maybe. The other reasons, no, because you would be toasting the literal outside of the sandwich. It's already made. The only way that becomes the inside is if you disassemble the sandwich just to specifically make the toasted part be on the inside. Like, okay, go ahead and take apart your panini just so you can flip around the two pieces of bread. Sure. --- Video Game Music Contest 14 champion: Idola Phantasy Star Saga - Endeavour ... Yeah, but you wouldn't toast specifically the inside half of the bread you are hongry and are too impatient to wait for the other sides of the bread to cook. you decide that it being half toasted is good enough and ponder the best way to assemble it to deal with this apparent deficiency --- The death is my life, the strength becomes my weakness, the journey has ended ...
