This is hardly surprising when Nintendo's had shady ties dating back to when they first started making toys and playing cards (cards that were also known to be used by Yakuza for their gambling shit or whatever). doubt it. modification of hardware you've purchased, or software included with said hardware, is not illegal
distributing the software would be, but they rarely if ever actually do that. just the tools to exploit it

no. modifying software included with hardware you've purchased it not illegal. it's covered under fair use. you own the hardware and can modify the software in whatever way you want so long as you don't redistribute it
its no different from a mod for a game

You think that admitting the fact that hacking consoles not only facilitates pirating games, but is basically why hacking consoles came to be in the first place somehow compromises the validity of your moral instance about what Nintendo is doing. I only suggest that so that "businesses" think twice before pulling heinous shit like this. Like instead of getting a $20 mil fine over dumping oil in the ocean, execs should be hauled off to prison. That would stop that shit cold turkey. I still dont consider a business to be a person.
