I used it p much every year at least once. Whenever I was running behind in classwork (like multiple assignment not submitted...), Id email my professor and say:

Hi <prof>, Im emailing about my missing assignments. I recently got promoted at my job and Ive been really overwhelmed by my new position and responsibilities, plus the increased work hours. Im still planning to get those assignments to you ASAP if that okay! I understand if there will be points deducted for late submission.

This worked 100% of the time and I never got any late penalties or anything.
Funny thing is, now Im a teacher. And when students think Im gonna be mad because they submit something late, I dont even care because I was that student.

One time I came in to class and people were turning in essays and I was like wtf so I left immediately and did the assignment in the library and turned it in during visitation hours and said I left my usb at home which I is a hour drive and had to go back and get it.

That was quick fucking thinking!

During a history final, I simply could not remember the information for the essay question, so I faked having severe cramps and need to rush to the bathroom. My prof for that class was a huge douchebag. He eventually let me go even though he said no bathroom breaks during tests.
I ran to the library and quickly googled some shit about some dead guy, went back to class and answered the question.

I'm just jealous and impressed by people like you.

I feel like every single time I try to even skip a little bit of anything I get in trouble so I just always play it all safe. Like I left work one time a couple hours early - it was a Friday, the rest of my team was out for the day, had no work or reason to still be there, no one cared. I left... and ten minutes later had a flat tire and got home like three hours later because I had to wait for the tow and the repairs and everything.

It's like that every time. Something comes up -_-

That said, I did have a few all nighters.

I had two portfolio based assignments due at the same time and ended up doing about 20,000 words in 48 hours. No sleep.

I ended up writing about 12,000 for one and 8,000 for another.

Word count of each was supposed to be 2000 max, but the lecturer failed anyone who did less than ~ 5000. Unfair as hell, but the lecturer was a weird asshole. Was very handsy with his favourite students and brought in his spare prosthetic testicle to show everyone.

I remember one time for a Bio final I pretended to have both arms on the desk while one of them sneakily slid back towards my body to grab my phone and let me see all the flashcards I had saved as pictures lol

I can't imagine what that looked like with me huddled over looking inside my jacket every now and then for the answer - like literally only my eyeballs were like moving to look down

In High School I was even worse - I knew I wasn't gonna graduate unless I passed my French final and I just grabbed the finish stack of scantrons from the front where everyone was putting them while some of my friends cheered me on and the other staring at me in complete disgust

This was all possible because that French teacher couldn't see well, like literally she used a magnifying glass + the windows magnifier on the computer.. God bless that lady lol - sorry Madame A.

wtf was the subject of these courses? Were these post-graduate?

It was a curriculum course for a teaching degree.

The portfolios were supposed to be all reflections and discussions of our teaching philosophy. It was the most useless, pretentious thing Ive ever done.

Oh, except for the assignment where we had to create an artwork that depicted our teaching journey and write 2,000 words on it. I made a stencil saying teacher and sprayed it all over the course handbook pages. The lecturer for that one thought it was great and didnt understand I was taking the piss.

It was basically a graduate diploma pretending to be a masters degree. Complete waste of 18 months of my life.

Would really just depend on the professors policies on late work, or possibly how otherwise studious and involved you are. Many are open to extensions if asked ahead of time, less so to after the fact
