Good. Now the people who used them can finally grow a pair and man/woman up.

I guess I didn't realize there was a difference between the two. Maybe service animals is what I'm thinking of
There is, a service animal is actually trained to do a thing, an ESA can literally do its job by existing.

Oh good. Its ridiculous how people have been abusing them as fake service dogs when they don't even act anything like them. Plus can't you pay a fee and put them in a transportable carry cage with you anyway? In fairness, I wouldn't leave my dogs to the mercy of the flight crew either.

There actually aren't any legal requirements for service dog training. They just need to be trained to perform specific tasks.
Then why do people in need, hafta wait so long to get one? It took my step dad years before he finally got his. They need to be highly intelligent, have special training, be focused on their person, have an ability to adapt to various situations and have a very calm temperament.

You're telling me. Inevitably they're not well behaved, but stores are afraid to say anything. And it's amazing how many you see in carts in stores despite a clear sign saying you're not allowed to do it. Someone actually told me that's a health code violation.

The ADA doesn't apply to airline travel. That falls under DOT guidelines. (Additionally, there is no federal protection for purely emotional support animals.)

They technically don't have to wait, but on a federal level, the animal has to already be trained before it is considered a service animal under federal guidelines (YMMV as far as animals in training go.) The ADA makes no distinction between a formally trained service animal and one trained "in-house" and doesn't recognize certification.

im sure theres legit cases where people need emotional support animals. very few are far between, far rarer than a guide dog. and in such cases, they should be treated the same as a guide dog. as in, assigned based on a legitimate condition as diagnosed by a certified professional
if those conditions have been met, the emotional support animal should be treated the same as a guide dog

So people with certain disorders cant fly Alaska now?

ok, fair enough, lets ban flying with bratty toddlers too. I hate when they kick seats, cry the entire flight, barf and throw food.

No, I'm sorry. Your cat will either hafta pay a carry on fee while you sit in your carry case, or risk you in the cargo hold.
