I thought it was a pretty good film, apparently doesnt go as in depth as the book but was still alright

It's got a 5.3 on IMDB, which I'd say places it in the category of "alright". I don't care for rottentomatoes.

ya, the mainstream has been tainting their previously earnest rating system.

I wished the film ended on a more darker and eerie note like the book instead of the happyish ending.

I've been watching the new show with Bryan Cranston, Your Honor, and it got like 40% on RT, but 8.5 on IMDB. The latter is way more accurate as the show is fantastic. Everyone is saying, "don't listen to the critics". So yea, I believe you.

Something like a 5/10 doesn't count as a fresh review so even if most people thought it was alright, that still count towards a negative review.

Is that the movie where they're standing in a circle, voting someone to die every few mins?

Unless its a really obscure, 5.3 on IMDb is in the not good territory.

To me 5-6 has always been the baseline "average" for Hollywood movies, especially ones that have been out for years. Like for example every Liam Neeson movie that comes out these days. The distinction between "alright" and "not good" doesn't seem significant to me.

Okay, I can understand that one having a shit rating. When I thought it was the scifi death-vote one I was like, "Whaaaaaaaaat? That can't be right!"

Maybe a better description would be that its more negative than positive. I can see how 5 would be average for people, but IMDb doesnt really follow that. For most genres an average movie would probably get mid to high 6s

I thought this was going to be about the Netflix reality show The Circle. I'm generally not big on reality TV, but I did watch that one because my mom wants to compete in a future season and wants me to help her film the audition tape, so I watched the show to get an idea of what she's going for. I wouldn't rate it very highly, but it would have surprised me if the general viewership of it rated at 19%. Typical reality show with a social media spin. Made slightly more interesting by the fact that they're all isolated from each other and can play fake personas (kinda like a troll!).
