I don't really use my phone for any of that cool custom stuff Androids can do anymore.

Does iOS have Google Photos though cause that's like the only Google thing I really use

I'm the only department head with an Android. Switching to iPhone would enable me to be part of group text, but I love my Samsung.

Yeah people always seem to make a big deal out of iMessage.

Most people I know use iPhones

Facetime and iMessage is great assuming a lot of the people you know have iPhones. Also buying accessories for iPhone is always easier compared to Android phones.

Allow me to paint you a picture. Regular SMS messaging in Brazil is all but dead. I don't talk to people so I have no idea what the situation is on iMessage, but even with the people I do talk to, nobody seems to use it. Everyone's on Whatsapp, which is offered at no extra cost for most plans you can contract from phone carriers.

Now, at some points in the past some local judges in Brazil were slandered or some sort of police investigation was hindered because of Whatsapp (I don't remember the details) and they decided to block the app nationally, and these blocks tend to last a day or so when they happen. It's been a couple of years since this last happened I think, but the precedent is there for it happening again. People were left pretty much incommunicado and I think it would be awesome if the app was banned altogether, for all the trouble it's caused with misinformation and fake news spreading.

Honestly though apparently apple appstore is a bit more secure for bogus apps. Also the advantage of owning an apple comes when everything you own is apple, because it really did work seamlessly together.

Except it isn't 2009 anymore and Android does this just fine as well now. My android phone talks to my PC, laptop, and TV box if i so choose.

Google Photos works fine with iPhone. Though it's not as tightly integrated with the system as iCloud is. The things I like since switching:

  1. Device integration with other Apple products.
  2. Significantly longer update support. You will get at least 5 years of compatibility with the latest iOS update from any iPhone. The most you will get with Android is 3 years unless you do custom ROMs. And many phones never get new Android updates.
  3. Resale value. iPhones hold their value better than Android phones.
  4. TouchID if you are getting an iPhone SE or other older model. It's the best, most reliable fingerprint sensor I have used on any phone so far.
  5. iMessage support. iPhones have access to iMessage and virtually every other messaging program while Android simply doesn't have iMessage support.
  6. Better user privacy.
The only thing I miss about Android is I can't access iMessage from my desktop. Only my MacBook and iPhone. So I can't send text messages from my desktop.

I just switched myself.

The biggest reason for me was Apple CarPlay. My car (2019 Camry; I believe Android compatibility wasnt added until the 2020 model) is compatible with Apple CarPlay which makes using the onscreen navigation much more seamless. With the Android, I had to download and use TWO of Toyotas proprietary apps just to use the onscreen map, it was really annoying. With the iPhone, I only need to plug it in.

Should I go for the 12 or 11?

And it looks like the only difference between the 12 and 12 Mini are the size and battery life. Is that it? My wife wants to get the same phone I get and she prefers smaller screens.

I was originally thinking SE 2020 but the screen isn't even 1080p, dafuck

End-to-end encryption. I don't use Iphone but I won't use an app that doesn't at least have the option.

There's not a huge difference between the 11 and 12. You get an OLED display, 5G, better low light camera, and a slightly better processor. You will also likely get an extra year of iOS updates out of it. If that's worth the extra $200 is up to you.

The differences you listed are all that is different about the 12 Mini. It's identical otherwise.

At that small of a screen size the SE has I wouldn't say the low resolution is that big of a deal. I have the phone myself and love it. I bought it on a Cricket wireless deal that's currently still going for $100 (128GB version) plus $60 for 2 months of service. I'm also getting a $25 referral bonus. The only disadvantage is it's locked to Cricket for 6 months. It's the best deal on an iPhone right now.

Theres a lot of difference I guess but IMO the whole experience just seems streamlined using an iPhone. The quality of the material of the phone and general build quality has always felt superior to me.

Using the phone I find it doesnt lag or stutter as much as an Android when switching between apps or having loads of them active tbh

Youre paying for really great hardware on top of software thats just made to work on almost a 1:1 level it feels like

Not to shit on Android tbh, I dont know how their new stuff has been but I dunno - theyre UI sort of sucks and even that fancy foldable screen looked and felt super cheap >_>

They gave me an iPhone at work and I couldn't figure out how to easily type numbers on the keyboard... literally had to switch to the numbers and symbols screen to actually get a number on there. It was annoying.

Iphones have more natural and fluid gesture control. They also have better media control options on the lock screen.

BUT They don't have a back button that functions the way android back buttons work. And you can't access an iphone's file system directly, which means you can't just copy and paste or move a bunch of files into or out of your iphone. .......you have to use itunes *barf*

If you're getting an iphone 12, get a Mini. It's so much better to have a smaller phone. It doesn't compromise features either, it's the same phoen but smaller.

This is arguable the biggest downfall of using an iPhone device

You will feel this HARD

Like it'll make you literally wish you had an Android device lol

Can I use the power bricks my Samsung uses? They still connect via USB right?

It comes with a Lightning to USB-C charger. If the Samsung has a USB-C port it should work fine.

Pros and Cons for switching between the two. Just have to do you.

I have a Note 20 Ultra and wouldn't trade it for an iPhone anything. My wife is my opposite - she's all in on Apple.
