I kind of want to watch Unbreakable and Glass, but Split was so bad. I'm wondering if the other movies are better, they look better, but trailers can be so deceiving.

Unbreakable is a legitimately good film imo, Id agree it is better than Split.

Glass is a disaster. It almost feels like fan fiction.

Wow, your opinion is so bad. The writing in that movie is so fucking awful, only the people with the worst opinions can think that movie is good.
The movie did have pretty good atmosphere and James McAvoy's acting was fucking awesome, but other than that, the movie was a fucking train wreck.

Atmosphere and an actor's acting are not always created by the writing. The atmosphere was made by the set design, and McAvoy's acting, and McAvoy is a good actor no matter how shitty the script is.

How wrong do you need to be to deny the writing decides the set design and that the actor is acting out the writing?

If the whole movie is crap besides 1 character (not saying it is in this instance because I never saw it) then it's probably the actor carrying the script

Unbreakable is a halfway decent film that feels kinda silly for its ending, which is stupidly rushed. The other problem is that the film's "twist" -- so to speak -- has basically been given away by the films that came after it. While other films with sequels have a similar problem, it's not as bad as with Unbreakable.

And once you take that ending out, it's more of a character drama.

It's pretty obvious that this is the case, but he can't seem to grasp this simple concept. Probably why he has a low paying, low skilled job.

Yeah ummmm, almost everyone loved Split. Unbreakable I'd say is better but I think you'd hate that too. Glass is OK, you'd absolutely hate that I'm sure.

I don't think unbreakable is as good as people say it is. I didn't watch it until my 20's and while I enjoyed it I didn't think it was worthy of the praise.

So for me its Split > Unbreakable >>>>>> Glass.

Glass was garbo.

Hey lihlih, when m.knight wrote the story and script for "Split", don't you think he had the set designs and which Philly locations to shoot footage at to create the atmosphere you liked?

You do know that in most scripts, sets are kept very basic, right? Most of them read like this: int. Sub, evening, etc...

It's up to the set designers to communicate with the director and create something that'll create the atmosphere needed for the scene.

I'm sure this is too much for someone with a low skilled, low paying job like yours to understand though.

Yeah, set design has nothing to do with writing, but you can't understand that because all you're capable of is a low skilled, low paying job.

Lol, this guy actually thinks set design has nothing to do with the writing. What an idiotic thing to believe, given a set can't even begin to be designed until the writing of a scene is completed.

Set design can be part of a grand artistic vision, but has nothing to do with the quality of the writing. Really, it's a simple concept that only a low skilled, low paid line cook can't grasp.

Sunny, I went to film school. You're mistaken if you think writing dictates all other creative aspects of a filmed work. There's a reason auteur theory focuses on the director and not the screenwriter.
