What I said wasn't a straw man, it was taking the exact logic that the poster actually posted and applying it to a similar, more extreme situation. I pointed out exactly why the poster's logic was flawed.

right. the fallacy we have to be careful of there is false equivalency, which is where someone doctors a comparison to take the original example to its logical and most harmful extreme, or uses it to completely undermine the original argument.

like when someone compares your average 9-5 to sex work, for example.

My point is that expecting a respectable lifestyle out of one that involves exposing your body to people desperate enough to pay you for it is mega naive.

It's like getting involved in organized crime and expecting to never have to deal with violence. Or how about selling weed and expecting to never get robbed. Or working in fast food and expecting to never smell like greasy food.

Selling images/videos of your body is something that attracts a ton of creeps.

Sure it would never ever happen if that guy wasn't a big enough creep to send it to her parents, but creeps quite literally are her entire business.

I should say if they ONLY worked legit professions and stayed away from that site. Having a legit job as well is certainly better than only relying on that site.

I draw the line at exposing yourself to mentally unstable strangers for money. You can draw your own line wherever you like, but I'm not going to call sex work respectable.

Edit: I should add that I view participation on that site to be the lowest form of sex work. Like I would honestly think a good deal better of a stripper. At least there is skill (dance moves) to what they do and they have the benefit of working in an enclosed space surrounded by security personnel. At least, it seems safer than that site where clearly an internet sleuth can send images to your dad.
