"What are you ladies having?" you ask as you slowly move forward in line.

"I'm thinking Whopper Jr," Raven says.

"I'll have a Whopper Jr, too," Arella says. "That was a filling breakfast, so I'm not that hungry."

You nod and move up again in line.

"Welcome to Burger King, how can I help you?" the young man on the drive-thru radio says.

"I'll have one large Crispy Chicken Sandwich meal," you say, "and two medium Whopper Jr. meals. All Cokes, please."

"Okay, so that's one large Crispy Chicken Sandwich meal," he repeats to verify, "two medium Whopper Jr. meals, all with Cokes."

"That's correct," you say.

"That'll be $5.55 at the next window," he says.

"Thank you."

You move along and pull up to the pay window.

"One large Crispy Chicken Sandwich meal, two medium Whopper Jr. meals, three Cokes?" the young woman asks.

"Yes," you say.

"$5.55," she repeats.

You hand over exact change and get the receipt, as well as the drinks. You hand the tray of drinks over to Raven and then get the bag of your meals. Arella holds her hands out and you pass the bag to her so that you can pull out of the drive-thru. Arella checks the contents.

"Well the drinks are the right sizes," Raven says. "What about the fries?"

"Two medium orders and one large," Arella says. "They match."

"Let's take a moment to pass things out," you say as you pull over to a parking spot.

Raven hands Arella a medium Coke and a straw, and in return, the bag is passed up with your Crispy Chicken and large fries and Raven's Whopper Jr. and medium fries. Cups are put in holders, Raven creates a fry cup holder with magic, and you have easy access to your large fries as you pull back onto the road.

You drive back onto the highway, US-6 going east, but you know you'll circle back. You do as you see the left turn for NV-376 North, and then US-50 West. This only lasts 20 minutes before going to I-80 at Battle Mountain, and it is now just before 7 PM, aka dinner time.

You pull into the Super 8 right off the off-ramp. You get Room 111 on the ground floor and park the Charger. You unhitch Shadowfax to put him right beside the Charger, and then get everything inside the room. Two beds, but with plenty of room for Raven and Arella to share one.

"I'll go fetch dinner," you say. "We just had fast food from Burger King so I'll skip the McDonald's."

"I'll get pizza. I think I saw a place just off the block."

"Okay," Raven says, "see you in a minute."

You go out and hop on Shadowfax. You ride out onto the main street, and find a place called "Pizza Factory" right by a Chevron. You find a nice spot to park and you head inside. The Pizza Factory isn't that busy, so you go right up to the counter.

"Hi," you say to the person behind the counter. "I'll have a small All Meat, to go. And three bottles of Pepsi."

The cashier types that into the register.

"That'll be $21.75," he says.

You give exact change and get your receipt. You wait on the side and are given the three Pepsi bottles while the pizza is put together. You see the salami, pepperoni, pieces of ham, sausage, and then both traditional and "Canadian" bacon sprinkled all over the pie.

The pizza takes about 20 minutes to bake, then it's brought out and put in a box. A small at the Pizza Factory is 10 inches, cut into six slices, just enough for you and the ladies to have even shares.

"Thank you," you say as the box is brought over to you.

You make sure to grab napkins and some plates before you set the drinks together on top of the pizza box and carefully make your way out and back to Shadowfax. You use magic to secure them as you ride back to the motel and park back by the Charger. Raven opens the door just from hearing Shadowfax and helps you by taking the drinks. She holds the door for you as you get inside and set the pizza on a magic platform.

"I hope you're alright with meat lover's," you say to the ladies as you all take seats.

"That's fine," Arella says as she opens the box.

You each have a plate and a couple napkins as you divide up the six slices.

"Mmm, not bad," Raven says.

"I'm going to call my family," you say as you get your phone out, "we'll arrange some things for when we arrive in Mt. Hood."

You dial home and wait a few moments. Then you remember if it's almost 7 PM here, it's almost 2 AM there...

"I'll try again later," you say as you hang up. "Evening here is middle of the night there, so if I try closer to 11 or even midnight, I'll be callling them in the morning."

"Well okay," Raven shrugs. "Will they be up early enough over there?"

"I would think someone will," you say. "Father's still doing a lot of work even though it's summer, I'm sure of that. And Mother should also be up at about then, too, mostly because she would want my sisters to wake up."

For now, you three watch a baseball game that happens to be on.

"Oh, that's right, we were supposed to go see a game in Colorado," Raven says.

"Well it's alright," you say. "Baseball goes until October, if I recall. We'll have plenty of time to see a game later on."

The bottom of the fifth inning is already two outs in, meaning the home team of the Colorado Mountaineers are up but almost done. But they're also leading 9 to 2, so they aren't too worried.

The Mountaineers have runners on first and second base, their next batter steps up. The pitcher for the other team, the Detroit Engines, winds up and throws a fastball, but the batter hits it!

"It's going, going," the commentator says, "gone! A homerun for Peyton Dissanayake!"

"Wow, what a name," Raven chuckles.

The score is now 12 to 2, meaning it's Detroit who has to be far more careful now.

"Hey, do you want to shower first?" Raven asks you.

"No, no, ladies first," you say. "I'll go last."

"Alright," Raven says; then she asks her mother, "Do you want to shower first?"

"Um... Yes, I suppose that's fine," Arella says.

You three finish eating your dinner as Detroit finally gets the third strike on Colorado, stranding another runner on first. The broadcast takes a commercial break for the inning change and an ad for Sonic the fast food chain plays.

Arella picks out something to wear then takes her things to the bathroom. You pay attention to the game as it returns, and Detroit's Bert Zerbini is up to bat against Colorado's Dean Melendez.

"The wind up," commentary says, "and the pitch..."

"Strike!" the umpire says.

"Swing and a miss for Zerbini," commentary says.

Zerbini keeps his cool and gets ready for the next pitch. The pitcher winds up again, throws the ball, and Zerbini swings, and hits the ball!

"Zerbini is running, running, running!" commentary says while the ball flies. "He makes it past first, the ball hits the ground, but Puggioni is there to scoop it up! Zerbini hurries back and he's safe on first. Up next for Colorado is Jedediah Letterman."

Letterman watches Melendez as he communicates with the catcher on pitching ideas. The little stat graphic shows that Letterman got on base twice already this game, so he's got a way of hitting Melendez's pitches.

Melendez and the catcher, Wortis, seem to have come to an agreement, and Melendez winds up. Letterman swings and misses for a strike! Wortis shrugs it off like Zerbini did and waits for his next chance. Melendez communicates with Wortis again, an agreement is reached, and Melendez winds up again. Another pitch, but Letterman just watches as the ball goes up high this time.

"Ball!" the umpire says.

"Letterman's patience pays off and he has some breathing room now," commentary says.

Melendez doesn't "talk" as long with Wortis this time, and throws another pitch. Letterman swings, and hits the ball!

"Foul!" the umpire says as the ball goes far off to the right.

There's a bit of a wait as the foul ball is retrieved and tossed to a child in the front row, and the umpire gives Wortis a fresh baseball to toss back to Melendez. Letterman resets, as well, and Melendez communicates with Wortis. Another pitch, Letterman swings and hits it! But it's way up!

"He pops it up!" commentary says. "Wortis is looking for it in the lights!"

Wortis moves around, but he's lost track and the ball hits the ground. That's now a foul ball, Letterman is 2-2.

The bathroom door opens, and you see Arella has finished her shower by the fact that she's dressed. Now Raven takes her turn, bringing her new change of clothes with her into the bathroom.

Melendez pitches again, Letterman swings, another foul and it ends up in the corner of the field. The ball is given to another fan and the umpire brings out another ball to give to the cather. Wortis throws it to Melendez, they communicate, and Melendez pitches again. Letterman swings and hits it fair!

The right fielder hurries after the ball, it hits the ground before he can scoop it up, but he throws it to second. The second baseman catches it, keeping Letterman from advancing past first, and Zerbini decides to stay at third.

Jeffery Hess is up next for Detroit, but Melendez strikes him out right away with three pitches in a row. After Hess is Cheston Sharp-Fitzpatrick. He also strikes out, so now Detroit has two out and two on. Val Murray steps up, he lets the first pitch go and be a ball, then swings on the next! He hits it, it zips past the pitcher and just out of reach, but the short stop is there to scoop it up and give it to second base for the third out. The top of the inning ends and they go to commercial for the change.

When the game returns, the pitcher, Melendez, is now up to bat. Raven is done with her shower by the time Melendez has made it quite the duel with Detroit pitcher, Isaac Kelling. A full count of 3-2 but with eight pitches because of several fouls. On the ninth pitch, Melendez hits the ball! It's a grounder but has a wild hop and the third baseman misses it! Melendez gets past first and then to second before the left fielder can get the ball, and Melendez stays.

With Raven done, you take your turn now. You bring your clothes into the bathroom and set up your towel. Then you notice something was left behind on the bathroom floor. You pick up the bra and open the door.

"Um, Raven," you say. "I believe you left something behind."

"Oh!" Raven says as she hurries over. "Sorry..."

Raven takes the bra and hurries it back to her luggage. You hurry through the shower, and both dry and dress inside the bathroom. The shower was rather chilly, but that's welcomed in this heat. You return to the main room and to your bed to see Melendez isn't on base and that Colorado now has two outs.

"What happened while I was in the shower?" you ask.

"A double play," Arella says. "The batter, um, Huntlee Healy, hit the ball, but the first baseman was able to catch it, tag the base, then threw it to second before the other runner could make it back."

"Impressive," you say.

You sit and relax as the game continues, and Colorado only gives up a few runs, changing the score to 12-5. The game finally reaches the ninth inning by the time it's past 9 PM here. But that's maybe 4 AM... No, 5 AM because Nevada is actually in the Pacific time zone. That's still on the early side...

You'll wait just a little longer before calling, it's still not too late here in the States.

With it being the ninth inning and Detroit behind, it's now or never. Melendez and Zerbini make it quite the duel. A full count of 3-2 with nine pitches total because of fouls. On the tenth pitch, Zerbini hits the ball and it goes to center field! It goes back, back, back, but the center fielder is there and he gets it before it hits the wall! Then the fielder hits the wall, of course, but he stays up and holds onto the ball for the out!

"Very nice," you say as you sit back against pillows.

Letterman is back and he's ready. He gives Melendez another challenge, and he gets to another full count. Perhaps Melendez's arm is tiring out. But it's the eighth pitch that Lettermen hits!

"Oh that sound!" you say with a chuckle. "That's a good one!"

"And it's outta here!" commentary shouts. "Homerun for Letterman and Detroit! But it's still only 12 to 6, it'll take a bit more to change this."

Before Hess goes up to bat, Colorado's manager goes out to talk with Melendez. They talk, and the decision is made for Melendez to finally go out. Fans cheer as he goes to the dug out and his replacement, Corbett Margett, takes the pitcher's mound.

Hess goes up to bat to be the first to take on Margett. Margett and Wortis communicate, Margett winds up and pitches, Hess swings and misses for strike one! Hess resets, Margett and Wortis communicate more, and Margett gives a second pitch. Hess swings and hits the ball, but it goes right down and bounces off the ground for a foul.

Hess takes a step back to cool off as he resets, and Margett again communicates with Wortis. Another decision is made and Margett pitches. It goes high, Hess swings and misses, and Wortis catches the ball, for strike three!

"Out!" the umpire shouts as Hess goes back to the dug out.

Sharp-Fitzpatrick returns and the pressure is on with there being two outs. Margett and Wortis communicate again, Margett winds up, here's the pitch... Sharp-Fitzpatrick reaches for it in that low corner, but he can't get it, strike one! Another communication, another pitch, it goes to the low corner again but Sharp-Fitzpatrick leaves it alone, ball one. Margett needs less time to confer with Wortis this time and he throws it right down the middle! Sharp-Fitzpatrick is not ready, he swings and misses, strike two!

The fans cheer and get up as they anticipate this last out. Margett and Wortis communicate, Sharp-Fitzpatrick is ready, and here's the pitch. Sharp-Fitzpatrick hits it, but it's way up! Margett waves off the others as he back pedals, and he catches the pop-fly for the out! Colorado wins!

"Alright," you say. "I'm going to call my parents now and hopefully they're awake enough to talk our plants in Mt. Hood."

"Okay," Raven says. "So, like we said, they'd arrive in the early evening, right?"

"Right," you say. "Which means we need to hurry if we want them to have time to prepare. It's a 12 hour flight across the world like this, and 5 PM in Oregon is midnight in UK, so they'd have to leave at noon local time, aka just a few hours from now."

You call your parents, you wait on the line as it rings, and it's picked up after just a minute.

"Oh, Rorek, hello there," your father says.

"Hello, Father," you say.

"We were preparing for our trip out to America, so this is good timing," he says.

"Oh, that's great timing," you say. "We're not in Oregon yet, but we'll be heading there once it's morning here. If you leave London at about noon, that 12 hour flight evens out to be about 5 PM, and we can all have dinner."

"Well, that should be nice," he says. "But what about our rooms?"

"I haven't reserved any yet," you say. "I'll make sure to get those when head out."

"Very good," he says. "So that'll be four rooms or five?"

"Four? Five? Why that many?"

"Well," he says, a touch confused, "you and Raven have been in separate rooms, haven't you?"

"Yes, of course...!" you say. "Right. Well, wait, so a room for myself... You and mother in one, Sixth and Grandmother in another... Are you trying to lump the twins off on me or something?"

"No..." he says, sound as guilty as you did.

C, Lump them with Raven, give Arella her own room

"Well, how about they room with Raven instead?" you say.

"I'm sorry, what?" Raven says.

"Actually, we'll still need five rooms because Raven's mother, Arella, is with us," you tell your father.

"Oh? When did you pick her mother up?"

"On our way through Las Vegas," you say. "She and Raven have been rooming since, but if the twins are with Raven, there won't be a lot of room."

Raven walks over to you and clears her throat.

"I'm rooming with your sisters?" she asks.

"That's not too much of a problem, is it?" you ask her, hand over the transmitter. "They like you, you like them."

"But they're your sisters," Raven says.

"Yes, which is why I don't want to room with them. It'll be frustrating and awkward."

"Hello? Rorek, are you still there?" your father asks.

"Oh, yes, sorry," you say. "I'm just letting Raven know she and the twins will be rooming together."

"Oh, alright," he says while Raven pouts and sits down beside you. "I'll let them know about it once they wake up."

"Alright," you say. "See you sometime tomorrow then."

"See you then," he says.

You two hang up and you put your phone away. Raven sits pouts but you sigh and chuckle.

"Oh stop," you say as you scoot closer to her. "You'll have fun."

"I guess..." she says.

You notice the smirk on her face and you pull her in with a side hug to give her a kiss on the head.

"Alright, I'm going to brush my teeth," you say as you get up.

"Yes, we should start turning in," Arella says.

You go back to the bathroom with toothbrush and toothpaste, brush your teeth, then return so that Raven and Arella can take their turns. After that, the three of you rest on your beds and drift off to sleep.

The next morning, you three wake up at roughly the same time. Arella changes in the bathroom while you and Raven change in the room together. You two don't face each other, though, it's a little too early in the day to tempt yourselves.

After everyone is dressed and packed, you go back to the Charger and Shadowfax, move the car around to then hook Shadowfax to the back, and pull back out onto the road. You again get a meal in a drive-thru, going with...

COIN TOSS

A

You carefully pull into the drive-thru, and fortunately there isn't a breakfast rush. You take a quick look at the menu board and get what the ladies would like before pulling up to the speaker.

"Good morning and welcome to McDonald's," the person on the other end says. "How may I help you?"

"Yes, I would like three sausage McGriddles, six hashbrowns, and three medium coffees."

"Okay, that'll be $16.60 at the next window."

"Thank you," you say.

You pull forward to the next window, pay $17 and get your change with the receipt. The coffees are first, which you hand to Raven for her to hand one to Arella. Then the food is next, which you also hand to Raven and she hands it to Arella. You pull out of the drive-thru and back onto the road to get on the highway.

Raven hands you a hashbrown and you eat it as you drive. You scarf the hashbrown down and take a sip of coffee to wash it down. You basically do the same with your second hashbrown and leave the McGriddle for last.

You ride on quietly with the radio playing music. You follow US-95 North into Oregon, and hold out on lunch until you pass through Prineville. You've already had McDonald's so for lunch, you try Dairy Queen. They have a great "$6 Meal Deal," where you get fries, drink and a small ice cream sundae with the main dish.

You go with the bacon cheeseburger, Raven and Arella go with the three-piece chicken strip meals. That adds up to $19.80 and you pay $20. You get more change and another receipt, the drinks are handed to Raven while each meal has a bag. You pull over so you can sort the food out, and then you end up taking some time parked here to eat your meals. The chicken strips came with a cup of dipping sauce, which Raven and Arella use. Your bacon cheeseburger is very thick and juicy.

Once you finish eating your burger, and your vanilla sundae with chocolate syrup, you get back on the road. You have fries and your drink periodically as you continue on the last stretch to Mt. Hood. You turn off US-26 at the Summit Ski Area and go up a winding path to Mt. Hood itself, and you find the Timberline Lodge in the Mt. Hood National Forest.

You find a parking spot and pull in for the Charger. You quickly unhitch Shadowfax and put him in beside the Charger again before getting the luggage. You head inside and go up to the concierge.

"Hello," you say. "Do you have five rooms available? My family will be joining us in a few hours."

"Wow, five rooms," she repeats. "Well, let's see..."

She types into the computer.

"How many beds does everyone need?" she asks.

"Umm..."

You think on the math. Your parents will have a bed, your grandparents will have a bed, you'll have a bed. If Raven is rooming with your sisters and Arella is alone, that's three more beds but two in one room.

"Four rooms will be single bed, one room will be a two bed."

"Alright," she says. "Well, we can have two of the single beds connect..."

"Those can be for my parents and grandparents," you say to the ladies.

"We could do the same for the other two," the concierge continues. "And there's a two bed that is still close enough so that you can all be together."

"Um, well, that'd be a bit complicated," you say. "The other person in the single bed would be my future mother-in-law here."

You nod to Arella.

"Oh, I see," the concierge says. "Well, there is a single bed that connects to a two bed, for families like a parent and children. But it'll be a bit out of the way from the other rooms."

"That might work," you say. "Let's go with that."

"Alright," the concierge says as she finalizes things.

"So who will be in the family combo?" Raven asks.

A) You, her and the twins
B) Her, Arella and the twins

"I can join you in the family combo," you say. "But I'm getting the single bed, you're in the double with the twins."

"I guess that's fine," she says. "And if your sisters are too much trouble, we're switching rooms."

"Alright," you say. "Let's at least move our things into our rooms."

The concierge gives you the various room keys and you thank them before heading down the hall. All five rooms are on the second floor so you go upstairs with your luggage. You find the three rooms with single beds meant for all the parents, rooms 2C, 2D and 2E. You check teach of them, and 2E is disconnected from the others. That will be Arella's room, and she sets her things down by the bed.

You continue on down the hall, almost to the end, and find rooms 2M and 2N. The single bed is 2M so that is yours, meaning 2N is for Raven and your sisters.

"Now we just need to get the rental car for my family," you say. "I'm sure the airport will have a rental service attached."

A) Bring the ladies along
B) Let the ladies rest at the hotel

"You two can relax here," you tell Raven and Arella. "We'll be a bit busy once my family arrives."

"Alright," Raven says. "If anything, I'll look into reserving the Raven's Nest or booking the Cascade Dining Room while we wait."

"Yes, divide and conquer, great thinking," you say. "See you in a little while."

You give Raven a kiss on the cheek before heading back to the parking lot. You apologize to Shadowfax as you have to use the Charger for this one. You make your way back down the mountain's winding path, and find your way east then up north to Hanel Field. There is an Enterprise Rent-A-Car down the road so you go there.

"Hello," a young woman at the front desk says as you walk in. "How may I help you?"

"Could I see your selection of sedans?" you ask. "I have family arriving by plane and they'll be needing a car."

"Oh, certainly," she says. "Now, are we talking compact, full size, standard, intermediate...?"

"Well, not compact, they'll need room," you say. "Let's try standard to full sized."

"Well alright," she says as she types up on the computer. "How about something like this Volkswagen Jetta? Five passengers, trunk space for approximately four bags. Similarly would be the Ford Fusion as a full sized. Unless you would like to move up to full size elite with something from the BMW 3 Series."

"Hmm... What is the perks of the elite?"

"Well, this has more storage space, and we offer stronger insurance coverage for them."

"Yes, I'm liking the full size for the storage..."

A) Go with Ford Fusion for normal full size
B) Go with BMW 3 Series for elite full size
