Having a chance to reflect on it I wanna discuss the broader point from the Mitchell article.

Even if Brody's death is coincidental to covid, shouldn't the death of a beloved wrestler cause AEW (and WWE and everyone else) to rethink their current covid strategy? Shouldn't experiencing this sort of loss drive home the potential cost of staying the course even if, again, Brodies issues werent actually covid related at all?

If they didn't think of that before, I'm not sure why they would now.

And they maybe dont want to risk that happening again and having it be their fault?

Of something that, even if it wasnt covid, was similar enough that it had to be called out as a non-covid version of what covid does to people?

Shouldn't experiencing this sort of loss drive home the potential cost of staying the course even if, again, Brodies issues werent actually covid related at all? We just witnessed a man go from his physical prime to dead, brought low by the very sorts of thing this disease does to your body. Like if I were the talent I would be...less than excited to go to work this week to put it mildly.

I honestly wonder what changed about WWE COVID protocol to get people like Roman and Sami to come back, or if anything actually changed at all

Weren't they doing the same thing that AEW was doing where everyone had to be tested immediately to even be allowed with everyone else at the tapings?

Also, BTE was all interviews with people and clips from Brodie Lee on the show, if anyone wants to check it out. It was a nice watch and reminded me how absolutely hilarious he was on top of everything else.

So apparently the end of the show was Randy Orton dousing Alexa Bliss in gasoline and threatening to set her on fire, and Alexa being okay with this because "she wants to see him again."

And the show literally faded out with Orton holding the match.

Remember when WWE had Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Ronda Rousey arrested for, essentially, fighting too much?

On What Happened When With Tony Schiavone, Tony Schiavone revealed that Brodie Lee Jr. officially signed with AEW & will wrestle for them when he's of age.
Full quote:
Knowing that Brodie was very sick and knowing it was holiday time, and I guess knowing that for him to kick out, it was going to be, I dont want to say a miracle, but it was going to be very difficult to kick out, they had brought little Brodie to TV and wrestling is his life. He is eight years old. He really is a great kid. They made him a member of The Dark Order. They put a mask on him. He came out with a kendo stick. He beat up a lot of people.
This of course was at a TV taping with nobody in the audience. They signed him to a contract. They legitimately signed him to a contract and when he gets of age, he will be with AEW.
When we do TV tapings now, we will have a live show or a taped show, Dynamite, and then we will have sometimes 13 dark matches. We are there until 2 am sometimes. I was sitting back there with Amanda when Dark was going on and she said, Im dead tired. I need to get back and get some sleep but he (Brodie Jr) just loves this so much, Im going to wait. So, she waits until it is all over and he gets involved with the guys and sits in the gorilla position.
He sometimes comes out with a mask on and does some crazy things. It just shows you how the roster loved Brodie and how we are family." - Yaz

That seems a bit much. I assume we are getting a new title to replace it? Maybe they just meant they are retiring that specific belt?

Overall I loved the tribute show though. So good and great on AEW for doing it when they previously had a big show planned and advertised.

I was actually told that the title belt was being retired, as in the design. Brodie Jr. loved to sleep with it when Brodie had the title, so they're letting him have that belt and they'll bring out a new design.

It's also pretty powerful to see WWE wrestlers on AEW like Becky Lynch, Big E and Bray Wyatt via pictures. I assume since they're private photos they didn't have to get their permission to use them, and I hope WWE doesn't WWE things and pitch a fit about their WWE tag titles being on AEW.

On one hand, you probably are.

On the other hand, it would have came off as slightly opportunistic to do a tribute show to a guy who was so miserable with your company he asked for his release and hadn't worked there in over a year.

Of course they are supposedly doing interviews and a video package, so I have no idea if it's gonna be on Smackdown or the network or YouTube or whatever.

It provides an excuse to give money to Brodie's family for the next X years.

The contract is probably just to pay off the rest off whatever was left in Brodie Lee's original contract prior to his passing and to give his son the chance to get trained there if he's still interested when he grows up.

I haven't had a chance to see the Dynamite show last night, but I feel like from the response and snippets I did see it's difficult for me to describe AEW as "scummy". Maybe young and dumb, but I don't know how you'd think that when Brodie Jr. is of age after that show they're forcing him to do anything he doesn't actually want to do.

Also, Tony Schiavone mentioned him doing backstage stuff too and he already "helps out" in the back (obviously whatever little dumb probably pointless tasks they could give a cute kid).
