As funny and insanely bad the launch was, I do hope CDPR will be able to set things right and patch the game so it's back to the quality people expected. Mostly because I want to play it at some point and Witcher 3 never really interested me, but I heard great things about the game.

Game runs = deadlines met. Glitches and graphics being fixed are a bonus, so long as the product gets out the door. Anytime a game gets delayed, that's what you should expect.

Also does anyone actually believe they wouldn't do the exact same things they're sorry that they did in the future if they felt that it would benefit them? Like they probably won't block review codes for current/last gen consoles again because playing the same card twice after acknowledging its shittiness would be indefensible, but if they hadn't felt the need to play it here, does anyone actually think they wouldn't do it next time if they saw benefit in it?

Imagine eating this shit up or thinking this apology has depth and wasn't planned before the game even launched.

this game is special in that it is coming from the devs of witcher 3. witcher 3 is the stereotypical "im a hardcore gamer but in secret casual as fuck" game, so when the devs make a new version of that, well, you see what happens.

It's a horribly optimized game tbh. I can play RDR2 on all high settings at 1080p with my computer; on Cyberpunk I start getting slowdown when I'm moving around outside sometimes even with medium settings.

Also I'm just bitter because it seems (haven't confirmed yet though) that you can downright fail side missions for stupid shit like choosing the wrong dialogue option or ... not having a car available when you start the mission (literally got a "gig failed" screen because of this one). I normally don't try to 100% all the games I play but I do like to get achievements for things I've done and it's going to really bug me if it turns out I can't get these "complete all the side mission" achievements just because I didn't save scum or use a guide for everything.

And there are a ton of glitches ranging from potentially gamebreaking (mission essential enemies clipping through walls and ceilings) to just somewhat annoying (such as when you've got the Mantis Blades - basically short swords implanted into your arms - equipped and your fingernails are magically floating in the middle of the screen, and if you finish an enemy with a strong attack it's supposed to show you piercing them and lifting them up but sometimes you just get a nauseating roflcopter out of the camera where you ultimately just raise your hands up and blood streams out of the air) to some downright silly shit (like when there's a dozen NPC's crouched down begging for their lives because you just shot a gun and then one guy just dancing around and shit like nobody's watching).

Writing is really spotty, there are some really cool moments and there's a solid premise here but the presentation is lacking.

i am like 3hrs in on the xbox one x version and it's fine, probably the lower end of what i would consider tolerable for games performance-wise. reminds me of back in the early 2000s, when i had the original Xbox & was playing shitty console ports of Half Life 2 or Doom 3. no crashes or texture issues yet but i have encountered a few (minor) glitches. typical eurojank but i expected that (especially after playing Witcher 3).

probably runs like total shit (instead of kind of shit) on the base ps4/xbox but i have a feeling that by the feb patch it will be perceived much more positively. what really helped my performance a lot was going into the graphics settings and basically turning off every feature that is on by default

To be fair, cdpr does usually at least fix their shit. There are plenty of publishers that just patch the most egregious shit and then start working on their next project.

Dont own the game, and probably never will since it isnt my type of game, but watched a few streamers play it, and it didn't seem that bad. The only bugs I saw were the tposing stuff. Though they all played on PC. Nothing like Fallout 76.

I don't know why people keep comparing this to Fallout 76... Fallout 76 was clearly going to be a failure from the beginning - it was Bethesda making an online-only survival game (an already oversaturated genre by the time it was announced). It didn't look exciting in the preview videos, it didn't look exciting when it launched. Anyone who had experience with Bethesda products should reasonably have expected that their first-ever online-only game using an engine that doesn't support adjusting the field of view, set in an IP that they barely understand themselves and that they've been systematically dismantling along with TES, would turn out like garbage.

From a marketing perspective I would agree that this is worse, the performance issues are not acceptable and if it's being sold for a console it should probably run on that console (I'm pretty sure that's why people buy consoles in the first place). From a PC gamer perspective, it's not really comparable since it is a really entertaining game with some substance to it, even though you can see it could have been improved in every aspect.

CDPR promised Cyberpunk would be a huge rpg.

Instead they put out an action-adventure game where nothing you do matters to the world and the npcs lack AI.

I agree with Tmaster's assessment that it's mostly just generic action with limited roleplaying, though there are plenty of different builds to explore. Still entertaining to screw around in but... could have been a lot more than it is. Everything it does is *fun* (except for driving), but also at like a 7/10.
