Maybe I'll be lucky and get it without spending that much!" and end up blowing tons more than intended because they can't stop. My kid had the Roku remote and ordered a 1 year subscription to ESPN+ without me looking. Roku forces you to link your CC info before you can even turn it on. Also, it's easy to have an iPad linked to a credit card for the convenience, only to upgrade to a different device while little Johnny or whatever uses it to play Toca Kitchen 2 or something. I bet the Mom was working her ass off to provide money for the family during a difficult year and probably only had a vague notion of what microtransactions even are. When she saw the first few charges she thought it was fraud so she had no idea what was happening.
