I have to wonder why people keep trying to divide our history. As in this is what whites accomplished or did, or this is what blacks accomplished or did?

And putting that aside even we have black history month dedicated specifically to just that. So idk what this vid is trying to accomplish. If test books dont have enough to say about (insert races here relevancy) and the history teacher is to lazy to just look it up himself and teach it then that's on him and the school.

Remember, to the conservative, any concession to the notion that white supremacy is wrong is seen as dividing our history, not as correcting it. As you can see above.

How many school lessons do a deep dive into the roman empire or the history of medieval knights?

Even in high school history class it was glossed over at best.

Let alone race being mentioned at all. It was usually mentioning specific figures and large events through history. Its not like "oh btw they were all white lol"

The only one I'm skeptical about is black medieval knights. Of course there would be black cowboys in the US and the Romans would have lots of peoples fighting for them.

But then, I also don't recall any high school history class spending any appreciable time on knights, Roman military, or cowboys in general.

Yeah, this is my reaction. Roman/medieval history was covered in junior high school, and it was not exactly a Ken Burns level of detail. I never learned about cowboys or classical music in any history text book. I'm not really sure that cowboys are really an historical 'accomplishment'.

We definitely did cover black pilots in WWII though.

Black medieval knights is kinda pushing it tho....unless they mean black societies had their own warrior classes in medieval times that were the equivalent of knights but that's kind of a stretch to call them knights lol

I think they make a decent point. Just look at how people reacted when the BBC put a black Roman legionnaire in one of their shorts. And black people are attested in the Ancient Mediterranean. Aethiopian warriors were deemed worthy warriors by the Persian king Xerxes when he returned to Asia with the "show off" army and left the actual real army under the command of Mardonius to finish the conquest of Greece during the Greco-Persian wars. They're attested both in Greece and Sicily, as part of the Roman legion, etc. I think it's worth pointing that out so racist don't go berserk over one black person in a historical setting.
