The last two books I read was Prince's autobiography called The Beautiful Ones. I've also been reading a lot of Edgar Allan Poe.

How about you?

The Fires of Vengeance by Evan Winter.

it's the second part of a fantasy series that uses an African backdrop and aesthetic as inspiration.

I really liked it; the dude writes action very well, and it's very much an action series.

Reading the The Personal MBA right now. Glad I didn't take the plunge to get a real MBA. It's nice to know more about business, but I'm glad my role now focuses more on the supply chain than all the other crap like sales and product launches.

Eh, it does and it doesn't. Depends on your worldview (for lack of a better term), I guess. Watch out for very adult situations about midpoint.

Trying to tell you without spoilers. Ummm...I guess I can say that the Baron intends to sexually assault someone, but doesn't actually do it. Still, you will come to that part.

Thoughts/veiled threats. I think you can skirt around it. I would say monitor the inner monologues. Know that it will happen about midway. Yes, the first book.

Last book (play) was Anne Carson's translation of the Bakkhai

I'm reading a bunch of things for school as well but after that I'd like to check out Piranesi from Susanna Clarke

It's more subtle and the act itself just implied IIRC, but I could be misremembering

Cool choice of bed time story at any rate. It definitely has some big moments but depending on her interests it might get a bit out there at times with the psychological exposition and stuff.

How are you liking it so far?

i like a lot of the concepts but there's so much foreshadowing that i feel like i can read some of the major upcoming beats pretty easily
