Thank GOD it's back!

I never thought I would miss something like that, but boy I'll never take smell taste for granted again!

Basically, I got COVID on Nov. 11 then lost my smell and taste on the 13th. Then the only thing I could smell was Listerine and that's it.

I was like that for about 3 days before finally another smell came back. I could smell Tea Tree shampoo. For about a week I could only smell those two things. Then I could smell and taste chocolate. Then it moved up to lemons and so on until finally yesterday it came back about 75% yesterday then today it moved up to 90%.

How did you know you had it on the 11th? Did you have other symptoms besides the loss of smell and taste?

Yeah, everyone in my house got it first and tested positive. I wore double masks, gloves, and washed my hands 1,000 times and stayed in my room, and forced the ones who were sick to stay in their rooms, but I still got infected.

I got fever, chills, body and headaches. The fever never went above 100 degrees.

It was really strange because I never would have known that I had fever if I didn't have an infrared thermometer.

The strange thing is when I get the flu and I get fever, I know I have fever because my body feels off. When I got the coronavirus at first I just had a headache. Since I knew headache was a symptom and since other people in my home were sick, I decided to check myself and sure enough I was 100 degrees. After that came the body aches and chills.

Are you doing smell training? That's what I kept doing.

Basically, what a doctor told me is to smell at least 5 to 8 things every morning that I could smell for about 20 to 30 seconds. Then again around late afternoon/early evening then again before bed. He also said to keep eating things like normal and it worked.

No, just fever, headache, and chills for two days.

On the third day I noticed I would get easily winded. Like I would be able to run a mile easily when I was healthy, but with the virus I felt like I couldn't even walk a mile without coughing. It was sort of like being a smoker or something.

I didn't stress myself out.

I just slept and watched Netflix all day. My stamina came back about two weeks later, but the smell and taste loss was the most stubborn symptom that lasted a while.

Is this one of the symptoms? I lost my taste and smell, and I've also been forgetting a lot of basic stuff lately. Figured it was just me getting older but this actually makes sense.

Covid is weird, I didn't even get sick just lost my taste and smell while my father in law just died from it

it's one of the possibility's then again i think TC got lucky as far as the outcome.
others have holes in lung, they cant do stuff as they normally do (get out of breath even after the sickness).

also to note: loss of taste/smell is a symptom of covid (good indicator).

I haven't tried smell training like your doctor said, but I tried smelling stuff everyday. I noticed it started to come back when I smelled some anise very strongly--and I hate anise.

This happened to me too, and it took like a month to get back.

I just paid more attention to everyday items that I use and gaged a percentage of what I could smell and taste. So like I couldn't smell my bar of soap, deodorant, eggs, and so on, but I could smell my shampoo, toothpaste, raisins, and strawberries.

Do smell training. Try Listerine Cool Mint. My nose recognized that smell right away even when I lost everything. My doctor said you're just supposed to breathe it in and not try hard to smell it. Just let it sit maybe an inch from your nose and just breathe like normal.

It was hard for me because my smell and taste would go back and forth. I had good days and bad days. I would smell almost everything and then the next day it felt like I lost everything. Then it would come back again.

Besides smell training, I would also light a scented candle to relax while watching a movie to relax. I ignored the candle and just paid attention to the movie and then I noticed my nose was picking up the candle's scent. I think that helped train my nose too.

A few years ago I lost my sense of smell after a wicked cold. Took forever to come back. I didnt keep track but I think it was at least a year, if not longer.

Still, of all the senses to go... that was probably the least worst.
