It could have been better but wasn't too bad. Even before Covid I don't go out these days nearly as much as I did when I was younger. I always enjoy my time just hanging out at home by myself.

I've gamed more this year than any other in all the years I've been playing video games. I just finished my 28th game of 2020.

5/10. career is going well, but my quality of life is suffering. I'm always keeping an eye on openings and I'm going to start actively pursuing another employer. I have a month of vacation every year and was only able to take 3 days off this year, that's a problem.

family shit is getting rough too. they're being assholes to me and my siblings because we aren't religious/conservative and blame my mom for failing us. id say she did a pretty good job, all in college or graduated with successful careers.

pretty fucked since just 5 years ago I would have said I was very fortunate to have them...

Started rough as my wife left me Dec 1 2019, but theres been lots of self discovery, i came into a lot of money by selling the house in the seperation, and i started seeing someone i really gel with that isnt demanding all of my time.

Personally 2020 is 9/10 or 10/10

On a personal level, I've had worse years. This one has only been bad on an existential level. Like for 2020, I feel bad for humanity as a whole. The worst years of my life were filled with personal failures and tragedies.

As someone in the middle ground. I hadn't taken too big of personal hits myself, these topics always seem in poor taste.

I lost both my uncle and my grandmother who were the two closest family members to me. My uncle was especially like a dad to me, wed be over at his house almost weekly. He lost his battle to pancreatic cancer in May and my grandma passed away from dementia about 2 weeks ago.

But I also got pregnant after struggling with 4 years of infertility. So it feels like a tiny miracle among all the other stuff. But then I remember that she will never get to meet my uncle or grandma. I really thought my uncle would be a grandpa to any kids I had because my dad doesnt give a shit and my husbands father died decades ago.

I just cant put a number on it. Its been a roller coaster.

Feel bad saying it but it's been a 9/10. I got to move to a brand new apartment out in the middle of nowhere for cheaper than my previous dumpster close to the city. Went to Vegas with the girlfriend. Job remaining good, actually even better because our office shut down on 6/30 so I've been fully remote (hence the moving away for cheaper rent and nicer apartment).

Only reason it's not 10 is because my aunt and uncle seem to be having marital issues and it's really screwing with my cousins. Hate seeing anyone go through that.

Other than that, it's been a great year.

I lost four relatives including my grandmother.
Laid off from my job and now working two to get by.
My sex life is worse than before.
I got fatter (that's my fault though)
I'm in desperate need of a therapist again.

The few positives are that I actually like wearing the masks and I'm a bit closer to my family. Unfortunately I don't think that'll last very long either.

I work in the live music business so I haven't been able to do what I like since March.
On the other hand, I had a ton of free time and got to enjoy the summer. So sorta an involuntary sabbatical where I was stuck at home a lot.

Business went from booming to constant fear of unemployment. Also any possibility of a raise is out the window. Not to mention, my whole industry has been hurt by the pandemic and this is my career so it kinda sucks. Because before I had a lot of options to move around with jobs but now Im relegated to being thankful to be retained. Which, of course, puts me in a very shitty negotiating position. At least, in general.
