The vast majority of non binary and trans folk use he/her or they. Some people use something else to be singular of they/them, but it seems pretty rare. Those that do believe that, are joked about, but respected, nonetheless. Neo pronouns are actually most commonly used by neuro diverse, particularly aistic, people. They often have a unique feeling of gender and using neo-pronouns is how they're able to express it. Those who complain about it, are the ones who make them seem super-common.
