No, I wish. But Trader Joe's in some nearby cities so that kinda makes up for it.

Aldi's and Trader Joe's aren't quite the same thing. More like opposites, really.

Aldi's is a small budget store that doesn't even sell namebrand stuff. Trader Joe's is a large high end grocery store.

Lmao holy fuck. Are you literally incapable of making a post that isn't horrendously wrong?

TJ's is owned by Aldi's sister company, and is a small, cheap grocery store that sells its own brand of products. Like you are literally so far off the mark you fell of the edge of the known universe.

Also there's some misinformation about the chains here.

Aldi as an entity split legally in the 60s because the brothers who ran it couldn't agree on whether or not they should sell cigarettes in the store.

So there's Aldi Nord and Aldi Sd which are two separate enterprises. Trader Joe's was originally a wholly independent store in California but it got bought out by Aldi Nord (which runs several Aldi chains in different countries); the Aldi stores we have in the US are all operated by Aldi Sd.

Interestingly, the US is the *only* country where both companies operate; everywhere else it's either all one or all the other.

At any rate, Trader Joe's was founded and operated for its first decade or so as a wholly independent company that had nothing to do with Aldi. The creator was just taking advantage of the Tiki fad and filling a niche market for consumers, and eventually Aldi Nord picked it up, though it's still technically operated as an independent (or perhaps more accurately autonomous) chain.

The first Aldi opened in the US a couple years before Aldi Nord bought out TJ.

So they're related "by blood" just by virtue of how TJ came to be acquired by one Albrecht member, but it's not really meant to be a competitor or complement to Aldi.

I have one near me, and effectively across the road from my friend's house...but I've never shopped there.
I do wish we had one in my town, but it seems one grocery store chain has a strangle hold on my town....I'm sure there is more to that story.

Aldi is the cheapest grocery store chain by a lot. That's why people like it. If you want to save money, it's the place to shop

I went there once and it was pretty decent, but it's a bit out of the way and I literally work at a grocery store(Whole Foods. Can confirm it's a horrible company LOL), so I probably won't go there very often, if at all.

Though the liquor store next to it is good.

Apparently there actually is one in the Phoenix metro now, but it's kinda far and I'm never really out in that direction

also we already have dozens of other grocery chains

Aldi's is something I never would've heard of if not for CE always talking about it

The nearest Aldi Nord is about one mile from my home. I used to go to Aldis quite frequently, but haven't been to one since getting a card at work that lets me get groceries from Rewe.
