DOOM but with a Super Shotgun and some new enemies

I've beaten it twice through. Or almost twice through. I got to like Map 24 on Xbone then started over on PC and beat it for sure on PC. Unsure if I ever went back on Xbone for the achievement.

Didn't quite enjoy it as much as DOOM (1993). Nothing particularly bad about it per se but maps become a bit too long at times compared to most maps in DOOM. Though maybe its just lack of familiarity.

A lot of people like it more than DOOM but I agree with you. What I like doing is playing original Doom vanilla, then playing Doom II with the Brutal Doom mod. Makes it feel like a real sequel

The highs in Doom II are better than Doom 1 but the lows are much lower. If I recall, Map 24 (The Chasm) is one of the worst levels in the series with those really narrow walkways.

On a 486 with only 4MB of RAM, and no math co-processor. It ran slow as molasses.

I don't really know if I have or not. I played DOOM as a kid but it wasn't readily available in our house (played it at my cousin's).

When I played it on my buddies 586 it reminded me of when I played Street Fighter II on the Genesis after putting many hours on the SNES version.

sourceports for single player i usually default to gzdoom. i dont like that i do because graf is a shithead and i feel bad supporting him, but i'll usually use it unless the wad calls for something else.

multi i think just about everyone uses zdaemon these days. i used to use skulltag before it died

It's good. Really different from vanilla, but still good, more like an evolution to the gameplay. Feels like something iD could have actually put out. I mean, it literally inspired the gameplay for the reboot.

I played new DOOM before I played OG DOOMs. <_<

You should definitely give at least 2016 a spin. Eternal is faster paced gameplay wise but has a lot of story compared to the series

well DOOM Eternal is 67% off

Disc for DOOM 2016 is $15 at gamestop, $20 digital

Probably will see a sale on Black Friday or in December.

I'd recommend PC if your PC can handle it at all
