To be fair, the Russia investigation was started largely because Trump's win was an unwanted outcome. That part's at least slightly analogous. Now, the fact that enough credible evidence was found almost immediately after beginning the investigation to justify continuing it was certainly different, as was the fact that Trump's win was an unexpected outcome based on polls (whereas Biden's win was overwhelmingly expected and the real oddity is that Trump lost by so little) and investigations are generally reserved for outcomes that aren't consistent with expectations, but the fundamental reason for calling for an investigation was at least somewhat comparable.

You have small pockets of fraud for either side. Not enough to sway the election. Trump is having the meltdown he wished Hillary had last time. However do some recounts, prove there wasn't enough fraud to affect the election and be done with it.

Of course the guy ranting about election fraud during the campaign isn't going to let it go when he loses(and with a worse margin than Hillary lost as well). There was always going to be "election fraud" because of how he talked it up in the past.

What I don't get is why so many people (mostly OhhJa) insist that "the left's" position is that there's no fraud at all and the system is perfect and that any documented example of fraud completely shatters their argument. Obviously fraud does happen. It has always happened, it happened this time, and it will continue to happen forever. There's just never been any reason to believe that it's been significant enough to influence results, nor that it's favoured one side over the other by enough to change anything, and this election has - based on available evidence - been no different.

I also love how the same crowd that wastes absolutely no time in screaming "innocent until proven guilty!" any time sexual assault allegations come up is perfectly fine with accusing the entire left wing of voter fraud without evidence. Kinda makes you think, doesn't it?

But you can tell they aren't going to find too much, and definitely not enough to sway the election simply because with Trump ranting about voter fraud months and months ago, he primed his base to not accept the results of the election and to scream fraud at every turn. Anybody who believes Trump is just being played by him. He knew his election chances were slim, so he kept on talking about fraud and illegitimate elections months ago. Now that we're actually here, and he lost as expected, he is saying the same things, regardless of what actually happened. This was always the plan. If you don't win, go back to the voter fraud trope you've been using for most of 2020. Your base is already on board because you kept going on and on about it in the past and they trust everything you say.

It's very odd, but it is what it is. Do the recounts and investigations so we can see just how little fraud actually happened. Trump fans may not believe it even so, but oh well at that point. At least the Russia and Ukraine ideas got into the far reaches of gov't, in a mainly Republican controlled gov't. This voter fraud thing likely won't even be an issue or talked about when Joe Biden is sworn in.

Pretty much. If he lost, it was because of fraud. If he won, it was all the more glorious because he managed to overcome the incredible handicap of all that fraud. Either way, his base keeps fellating his ego and he stays happy.

Pushing these false narratives has a negative affect on US reputation abroad as well. I know there's a lot of Chinese media pushing that the US has a broken, fraudulent election system that illegally ousts Trump. I imagine Russia is pushing a lot of the same shit. It keeps their people in line if they believe even the US is as bad or worse.

If there was fraud we would have had the senate. We were projected to have up to 53 seats and now have have basically no realistic hope at breaking even at 50/50.

Get back to me about fraud when Trump starts talking about Ohio, Florida, or Texas. It's clearly fraud because Biden didn't win those states when he was supposed to.
