Which one should is the best?

Are there even any differences besides roster? Just play the most current one.

Unless you want to go through the "story" mode in which case the first time they did that is still the best which is 2018 iirc, otherwise yea just pick the most current one.

Yeah, I play a whole lot of Madden, especially this year, and the differences in gameplay between them are pretty minor, and will go mostly unnoticed to anyone who isn't a competitive player. When it comes to features in gameplay the newest one will always be ahead. The competitive community hated Madden 20 but it feels good enough.

If you're looking for best career or GM mode though, I can't really help you there. 2018 had a 'solid' career, but they're all mostly mediocre and there has been little to no changes to GM mode for quite a while.

The nice thing about sports games is I don't follow sports enough to care how up to date it is, so when I get the itch once a gen I can just go to gamestop and be the weird person actually buying one of the 99 cent ones from five years ago

The thing with games like Madden is that a lot of the "ugh this year's game sucks" tends to come from competitive players that are upset some previous gameplay feature that they used to exploit got changed to be less exploitable. Madden's all about small gameplay changes like that and people tend to not like when they have to "git gud" again because they can't cheese in the same way they cheesed before.

EDIT: An example would be if they notice players are exploiting an issue with defending against deep passes, they'll tweak passing to make it less easy to exploit the next year. And then people will "UGH THIS GAME SUCKS" when they can't throw for 90 yards every play. But then they'll move on and find something else to exploit and the cycle continues.

Can confirm. This happened with me every year on FIFA when I would have to restart at a new point on the learning curve depending on what changes they made.

I still play Madden 25. Right amount of BS rubberbanding combined with exploitable AI combined with I can draft Leon "NightHour" Sandcastle and that's awesome.
