TBF, Conan isn't someone everyone can relate to. He's a bit pompous, and turns some viewers off. He's got a large following, but he wasn't drawing in viewership due to having a similarly large overall disdain of his style, so they had to let him go.
Personally, I've never been that big of a fan of Conan, I stopped watching the Tonight Show shortly after he took over, but I'm back to watching it again now with Fallon. I don't hate Conan, I just didn't find him funny enough to keep me interested. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

his pomposity was always a self-deprecating ironic brand, which a lot of people either don't get or dislike

I just didnt like how he kept getting added to video games as if he was a nerd icon but all his gaming jokes and segments all read to me like he didnt actually know or care about games and never touched one outside of the segment.
