Going to be very interesting to see the Republican pivot in messaging if they get completely bowled over in the runoff due to lack of turnout.

If Trump somehow hasn't conceded by the then, they're sure as hell gonna be on his ass after that.

I suppose Trump will challenge the electoral vote in Congress on January 6. Unfortunately for him, it seems there is a statute on the books that says that if the houses of Congress disagree on which set of electoral votes to accept for a state, the set certified by that state's executive shall control. I guess Trump could try to get a declaratory judgment from the Supreme Court that that law is unconstitutional as the constitution gives sole control over the selection of electors to the state legislatures, not the executive.

Another option is for Mike Pence to refuse to open the envelopes:

The President of the Senate shall, in the Presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the Certificates, and the Votes shall then be counted

What happens if the President of the Senate (the sitting Vice President) refuses to open the envelopes? Puts them in his briefcase and exits the Senate and throws them in a fire?

So...probably Biden still favored, I would think. We'll see what the Maricopa drop tonight is, but that is a lot left in Pima. I have no clue how provisional ballots will split either. Could be really close either way but everywhere I've read seems to think Biden is still the slight favorite here.

Anyway My DREAM Scenario for this whole thing:

North Carolina decides to investigate for voter fraud due to the closeness of the election. They find that MANY voters double voted in North Carolina. And it's enough to not only win the state for Joe Biden but for Cal too. This gives Dems the senate. All because Trump kept bitching about Voter Fraud.

I'd pay good money to see that happen, and then see the look on McConnells face afterwards.

ALTERNATELY they do the same thing in Georgia, and Osoff wins outright due to fraud for Perdue.

I'm pretty sure even the boring moderates are for a $15 minimum wage. Even Biden is.

Most of the whining I saw was less about economics are more about social issues (specifically defund the police). Spanberger specifically was complaining they didn't focus enough on bread and butter economic issues.

(AOC is still right though and democrats have no idea how to run a modern campaign)

Anyway, multiple things (poor organizing and hard to escape nationalized messaging) can be at fault for the Dems losing seats!

I feel like "Decriminalize cannabis" is a no-brainer winning slogan right now. It just passed easily in at least two red states (three if you count medicinal legalization in Mississippi). It's now legal recreationally in at least one state in every region of the country except for the deep south, and any rational person knows why.

Easy political win at this point.

And while it doesn't "defund" them or even redirect funds, decriminalizing pot indirectly gives the police less power.

The neocons of the George W Bush era didn't have authoritarianism and lies?

If anything this past discussion has just revealed the false dichotomy between the two. Trumpism is just fascism wrapped up in Trump's specific cult of personality. He was still engaging in a bunch of neocon shit behind the curtain. Likewise, neocons can eventually ditch the Trump branding and continue to do authoritarianism shit on their own terms. That's why Lincoln Project is a joke.
Bottom line I agree with this, but it also makes the left's insistence that Trump is an order of magnitude worse a joke. All the rhetoric was about how Trump is not just incrementally worse, but a seriously new threat.

It's increasingly clear that liberals were really just saying that, and they either 1) think anyone right of Biden is a Nazi or 2) don't really think Trump is that bad compared to the average. Sadly I think #2 is more common.

california seems to use most of it for social services, child care programs, and the like.

Looks like a small bit of it towards enforcement to get drunk drivers off the roads.

At least 75% of Republican voters think the exact way Chowder does. I hope you're right, but having been right about the last two elections and living in the very red state of Tennessee where literally 100% of the right-wingers I've talked to still believe Trump won, it's pretty clear to me. Sure, that number might die in time and we can only hope that is the case, but it absolutely won't be when Biden is inaugurated.

Foolmo, I think the thing youre missing is that yes, Trump is undeniably worse than the average Republican, anyone on the Left who says differently is extremely blackpilled.

Unfortunately, hes not the only one worse than the average, and Republicans are extremely susceptible to these worse people. See: uh, Steven Crowder.

Your original stance of if you think Trump is worse, you SHOULD want to fund the Lincoln Project is faulty because the Lincoln Project didnt do anything.

Trump literally got a higher share of Republican votes than 2016, and this time the Dems had the Lincoln Project and the John Kasichs of the world on their side.

Now there are better people capable of helping and The Lincoln Project has completed its primary objective. There are also signs they may have greatly misused funds

People should be wary of them. And unless they are a Republican, they probably really absolutely shouldn't give them any money.

Does anyone have any numbers on party affiliatoin? I thought the point of the Lincoln Project wasn't "leave Trump" but "leave the modern republican party" which is why they have attack ads out on literally almost every republican in congress. Most of them no longer identify as republicans right?

It always seemed to me the targets of their ads were the kind of people that would actually leave the republican party and go independent or libertarian or something.
