People always rag on Fusion for being too linear but Zero Mission is pretty damn linear as well.
Also, the thing I really hate about Zero Mission is how you're locked out of being able to get so many upgrades until the very end of the game. You get power bombs like 2 rooms away from the final boss. So yay, you can spend another hour or two backtracking to get all the items, but why bother? The final boss is right there, and he's piss easy too.

Part of it could be that it's a remake, and that it takes place on Zebes, so it feels too similar to Super.

And I think you might have gone crazy.

MZM is the better game. And while you can try to argue that both are linear, that's not as much the case with MZM -- and, since it doesn't have all of those silo'd zones, it doesn't feel as linear.

I've beat Fusion twice, which is more than enough for me. MZM I've beat maybe 15 times so far?

Well, it's kinda heavier with the story elements and cutscenes. I guess that must also be a reason why it feels a bit more linear.

I like Zero Mission way more, but I agree that the added part 2 kind of sucks. Half of it you are way too underpowered and the other half you are way too overpowered. Not to mention, did the gravity suit really need an origin story? Is it too much to say that Samus just missed it on her first run through Zebes?

I like both a lot I really couldn't say which one I like more unless I replayed both of them.

But I still have to play Super and AMR2

My friend said that the 3DS remake was good but I wasn't quite as interested in that one's 2.5D graphics.

Maybe I should play both and compare, since we probably will never get another proper 2D Metroid

I tend to lean towards Fusion also. Zero Mission is great, but, I really don't like the end where you're suddenly in a stealth game avoiding the pirates in the Zero Suit. I really hated that trope from that specific era of gaming where they would crowbar a stealth segment into a game that wasn't really suited for it.

At least it doesn't have a literal Nazi reference in it, which is the hallmark of worst names ever.

I think it's a bit disingenuous to call "blitzkrieg" a Nazi reference. While it's popularly associated with Nazi battle strategy at the beginning of World War II, that is not its origin nor its first use in either German or English, nor is it the word's only applicable use. In fact, Hitler disavowed the term and called it "silly".

You copy/pasting somebody else or are do you also post under another name? Because that looks like the word-for-word defense used by somebody else a few months ago.

Neither? All this information is easily accessible. I guess it's easier to resort to ad hominem instead of addressing the substance of a post though. Have at it, Zeusy-poo!

What substance? And, for that matter, what ad hominem?

Your "Oh, well technically!" is weak as fuck when the term was originated as a reference to a Nazi war tactic. The claim "Well, you know, Hitler didn't create it. And supposedly he didn't even like it!" is undercut by the fact that it was, again, created and used to refer to a Nazi war tactic. But hey, after this maybe you can pull a "Well, acktually!" to explain why you feel minstrel shows weren't actually racist because some of some weird semantic technicality that exists in your mind that rest of society doesn't acknowledge. Meanwhile for the rest of us -- including the person who used it -- the term is tied at the hip with EXACTLY what you associate the term with when it's mentioned. And that term is very deliberately used for that association.

And whether you copied somebody else's argument word-for-word or originally posted it under another name, it's still a terrible argument that's no better than the first time it was claimed.
