Who puts away their ps2 long enough to lose it?

How much is that adaptor? I never looked into how people get hd on ps2 games. I always just rely on my eyes to adjust to the blur lol

Lol I actually have three PS2s for some reason. Haven't touched them since I played persona 4 like 10-12 years ago

You can get PS2 HDMI adapters that are convenient. But I personally recommend getting something like this since it will cover all your retro gaming systems.

It's funny you mention this because I found a Genesis (without any of the AV or power cords it needs though)

Eh. SNES is fine how it is and I don't care enough about other consoles at this time to justify a purchase like that. I feel like ps2 is the important system by a large percentage. Especially since it can also play my ps1 games anyway. N64 doesn't really have the single player library to get me coming back as much and it's not like I'm having people over for Mario Tennis and Mario Party anytime soon.

Well a HDMI adapter doesn't make it HD. At most it will just have filters usually.

As an aside, the launch model can be modified to run backups from a hard drive. If you're worried about the disc reader crapping out, it could be something to look into. Not really worth it unless you'll be playing PS2 games all the time though.

Yeah if you have the room, I'd recommend this. Not only will the PS2 look better than any upscaling HD stuff but you can get a crt for free off craigslist.

I might just do it for funsies. I wonder if there are any multiplayer games you can still play online? Like I know some people still do the PSO GameCube games.

PS2 game collecting is pretty fun right now because the games are still cheap. Partly because a lot of the big ones got later re releases, and partly because the "superior" versions of many games were on Xbox or GCN. There's also a fuck ton of copies of games or there lol.

Yeah I had to wait until I bought a house last year to get one. Was lucky enough to find a 32 inch barely used for free. Had component and s-video input so I've been buying new cables for all my retro systems. Playing my Genesis with component input after spending my childhood suffering with RF input has been incredible. Night and day difference in quality.

I bought the official component cables for ps1/2/3 for when I get my PS2 from my parents house. Curious to see the quality jump from composite to component with the PS2.

Yeah retro game collecting prices have exploded since the virus. Everyone sitting at home wanting to play old games I guess. Glad I'm not into the collecting aspect of it. I just wanna play the games with some assistance from techniques like Jabodie mentioned. >_>

Lol word. I like both, but 90+% of my collection is just stuff I still have from when it was released (or whenever I got it as a kid)

I don't have any rare or valuable ps2 games really though. I think Magna Carta: Tears of Blood CIB is my most expensive at around $80

To be fair, I never really looked into rare games. I've mostly been buying games I had as a kid. At a certain point in my life, my oldest brother starting stealing all our games and selling them for drug money, so I occasionally like to make purchases to rebuild my old collection. And they're mostly games like GTA, FFX, Battlefront, etc. where I got CIB copies not too long ago for pretty cheap.

Of course, that was before the pandemic, so I can see how those prices might have gotten fucked.

I currently have a similar setup for my Genesis, N64, and OG Xbox. My Dreamcast and Saturn will eventually get a MODE installed. All of them are hooked up to the CRT in an old entertainment center in my home office. Managed to snag one of those massive 8-9ft memory foam "bean" bags for free as well so that's used to chill on while using the retro setup.

My favorite setup is my Wii. I'm thinking my next setup will be an SNES. It's a big investment though.

Omg, I just checked and apparently the GBA cart was apparently miniaturized. If only I had more money lol.
