What makes her so bad? Asking as someone who has never played the game

Rebirth's core plot is about racism between Gajuma (beast people) and Huma (... humans), Annie story arc is that she starts off an overt racist against the Gajuma because she heard her father was killed be one (specifically Eugene, another playable cast member, R memoria, and legit best character in the game). She joins the party to figure out if Eugene really is the one who killed her father (he even claims that he did, but after their initial encounter she's skeptical because of his reverence to him), and that she'll kill him when she figures out the truth. Eugene accepts this, even lets her stab him in the first encounter to quell her rage, and throughout the story he sort of looks out for her... as she hopes to eventually kill him.

So yeah her arc is to eventually not be racist which doesn't really come until late of course and then whatever, and in the meantime she's screaming at a Gajuma child medical assistant tending her causing him to have PTSD, being demeaning toward Eugene, or acting as a foil to Tytree (R memoria!) who's always calling racism stupid and "who cares if you're Huma or Gajuma!" (second best character right after Eugene!) where Annie argues it's natural and not wrong. It's asked of her if she would hate all Humas if her father was killed by one but she just shrugs it off without response.

Bit more on the story of Eugene & Annie's Father of what happened as it's more spoilery: Eugene and Dr. Barrs worked together for the royal army - Eugene as a commander, Barrs as a doctor - and they both became good friends. On the Dusk of Ladras, the king dies and Eugene goes to see Dr. Barrs who was seeing the king's sickness. It's revealed that Dr. Barrs was poisoning the king, Dr. Barrs then attacks Eugene with a dagger, and Eugene kills him in self-defense - in his last breaths Dr. Barrs says to take care of Annie Barrs and Lady Agarte. When discovered, Eugene doesn't tell anyone what truly happened and so he is exiled for killing Dr. Barrs because he feels the doctor wasn't in his right mind and wants to find out what truly happened while preserving Barrs's good reputation.

Fast-forward again and it's revealed what happened is that adviser to the royal family Zilda used her secret Force power to swap bodies with the doctor, poison the King, and kill Eugene under the guise of a friend. When stabbed she swaps back leaving Dr. Barrs to die out in his body she was using.

Gameplay-wise Annie's also the healer of the group... in a game that doesn't really need healers, since everyone can dynamically heal themselves using any artes with the Rush Gauge system. As you're more aggressive you gain more RG - attacks are stronger, defense lowers, arte heals do less, but you can block more... vs the opposite for low RG which is when you can be guard breaked.

Happy to share since I'm actually a big Rebirth fan after the recent playthrough! not counting titles I haven't reached in this series playthrough (so the first 7 games) Rebirth is definitely my #2 after Symphonia so far... namely from one scene I really love (and the build-up towards it for this arc was a real highlight)

I recently got lucky with the guild summons and picked up two Karols back to back pretty much so I only need one more as well.

Figured NY was New Years but my next thought was New York lol

Maybe someone else can test, but Mania 1 Gald quest for 20 AP seems to give the same rewards as Mania 2 for 30 AP.

Mania 2 gave me 185k and mania 1 92k. Seems like a pretty big difference, mania1 isn't even more AP efficient then very hard but mania2 is

May have just been a fluke.

Mania Raids are also interesting. Max 3 a day for each raid, but no orb requirement, just 20 AP. That shit is hard as fuck, though, I needed Estelle and a full Sword grid even when 3 people joined last night.

Aiding Mania also requires 2 BP.

I haven't tried mania raids yet, but the hardest gald quest gave me 230k. Probably just some bad luck on the first run for you

When I went and got my gems for all the power up quest first time clears in Mania, I did get some PRETTY great Memoria and Potion results. Seeing 6 gold potions and 5 SSR Memoria in a single run is delicious. Also love seeing gold book rewards in Mania Raids.

And it could have been just luck, but I ran mania earth the 3 times last night just to confirm how the limit worked, and I did get a Beryl drop on the 3rd raid.

Ok, I tried the Earth Mania raid and that was pretty hard even with Estelle and four fire SSRs. I cleared it with Estelle/Stahn/Misella left and one person aiding.

I have an extra awakening stone from this month that Estelle might want, but I'd like an excuse to summon first to see what I get. I'm tempted to go for that dark OL stone if the EX banner is a dud.

While the Mania edition is great an the rewards are poppin', I would recommend everyone keep their focus on the event just because I want to get all the rewards for the new combined Event points total thing <_<

As for Mecha Asbel...I could probably put Annie's stone on him to make a pretty good stalling unit and boost him up with some of my other wind units. Probably not worth it though.

If you tab over to guild rewards on the in-event rewards screen, it shows everything we get once the event is over.

The Mania 2 seems way worse than Mania 1 for the memoria stone quests. 10 more AP and I don't notice any difference in rewards

It still has a heavy amount of random variability, it's just way more noticeable when there's so many more SSR stones on the line. I have gotten the same results between them a couple times, but then I do a Mania 2 run that gives me 8 SSR stones.

Just hit a million event points.

Guild total is at 3.65 mil, halfway through the event. 6 mil is gonna be tough since I'm sure everyone is winding down, but as long as we can hit 5 mil we will get all the SSR tickets.
