This. I wouldn't be me if I was suddenly straight. For starters my entire acquaintance pool would change instantly. That's just the tip of the iceberg. I think parts of my personality would be gone, I'd definitely be less reserved in public. If I had been bi and messing with girls anyways I suppose not that much would change. But doing a total 180 would impact so much of your life.

I felt this really hard. When I was younger I think I just wanted acceptance though. As I grew older, I learned acceptance comes from within.

If I were still a kid/teenager, absolutely. School in general is the worst place to be "different" in (I was already bullied for one reason or another. Coming out would have only made things worse).

Nowadays though, nah. I'm comfortable with who I am now (having LGBTQ+ friends really helped).

I don't really know if I'm LGBTQ+ (even though I really should know at my age) but maybe? I feel like I'd accept myself more if I was a bog standard straight guy instead of whatever I may or may not be now.

May I offer you a bit of wisdom that helped me when I needed it?

Hetero people don't really question if they are hetero or not. There isn't a need to label it anything you don't want to label it. Also, sexuality is a wide spectrum, just because you are on one end doesn't mean you are on the totally opposite side.

Only you know what you can do you find acceptance in yourself. Though if you had questions, or wanted someone to bounce ideas off of, I suppose I could do that if you wanted.

Labels describe. They don't define. You don't like women because you're straight, you're straight because you like women. If you can't find a label that accurately describes you, don't worry about it. Just like whoever you like and proceed accordingly. Maybe you'll find a label, maybe you won't, but it doesn't really matter so long as you find somebody you're happy with.

I don't want to make another thread, but i'm curious if the LQBTQ people that are voting here would vote to be Bi instead of straight if they are not already mind you.

I don't like the idea of cutting out a whole large section of people I could be with/enjoy life with and also find sexually stimulating. If I was gay, I wouldn't wanna be straight, because I wouldn't want to give up finding the people I currently am attracted to not attractive anymore. Same for me now, I don't wanna be gay, but I'd like the option of finding men attractive as well.

But yeah, I can see how especially in some areas people who are gay would be happy to be straight so they don't have to deal with discrimination, family issues etc.

I have seen a lot of people say they wish they were bisexual today for a variety of reasons. Mostly that there would be more options.

As someone who is attracted to many different genders, I feel like the people saying this have a misunderstanding of the everyday experience, especially the men that say they want to be a bisexual woman.

I think they think they would be attracted to like everybody. But I dont think it works that way. Youre attracted to who youre attracted to. I seen some bi people who are attracted to only some people. And end up having different things they are looking for. And having less options. Just like Ive seen some who fucks anything with a hole/dick and pulse...

Right sexuality and sex drive are separate, it's seems like people generally think all bi people are the latter.

I mean, it is objectively true that bi/pan/whatever people have more options than people with more exclusive orientations. People just have a tendency to overestimate how many more options there are, given that only a tiny subset of their new target gender will be into theirs. Straight people going bi doesn't double the dating pool, it increases it by ~11% (presuming ~10% of both men and women are gay, you go from ~45% of the population being eligible to ~50%). Gay people going bi get a much greater effect, but they already understand that by virtue of having personally experienced how limited gay dating can be. They also tend to forget that their standards would be roughly the same for the new gender as for their current preference, so it's not even like you're going to care about all of the new people in the pool.

That's because you already have someone. A better question would be asking if anyone not in a relationship if they would choose a sexuality where that's more likely.

I still wouldnt change, though. Like I said, when I was younger, I might have. But not now. And if I could change it in the past, I still wouldnt. I like where my life is. Changing my sexuality would change my whole character. And my life would be very different...

But had you asked me years ago when I was a kid, I would have said yes. But Ive grown accustomed to this life already. And I like it...

And while a relationship was my main reason, I still had other reasons, as well... Being single wouldnt change that...

I like how I am. I don't have to worry if my partner has a penis, breasts, a vagina, or some combination of the above, I just have to be attracted to them.

I mean, I only speak for myself but I already have a sky high sex drive so theres no reason to assume it'd change if I genderswapped.
