Keto was my first step into weight loss, I dropped 25-30 lbs in a few months but then realized that it just isn't sustainable financially.

I was able to maintain at 220-225 until covid hit and I ballooned back to 232. Switched to a mix of IF/Keto and I'm now my lowest weight since 2004, where I was 219. I'm at 215 and trying to get to 200.

We're done here. Why am I squabbling with somebody who doesn't read anything

why am i squabbling with somebody who has to resort to strawmen, goalposts and lack of reading comprehension to win an argument?

Im convinced its more about genetics than anything. Ive seen members of my family eat the same amount of stuff that I do and balloon where Ive always stayed skinny even when being completely inactive.

do you see what they eat 247 365 days a week?

exactly, it's a lifestyle change, not just something you suffer thru for 2 weeks and is magically fixed. You got fat over a unhealthy lifestyle so now it's time to get skinny again.

It took you years of eating like shit to become obese, why do you think it'll take months to be skinny? Love that thought process when people lose hope that they aren't skinny in a month or two weeks nonsense. It'll take A LOT more effort to undo YEARS of fattening up in just mere months.

Not everyone has the willpower to exercise more or eat less. Hell I admitted it, I don't have the willpower to eat less. I make up for it by exercising more and it happens to work for me. I know the moment I stop exercising as much as I do I'll balloon up. Either I eat less to compensate for not exercising as much or I keep exercising as much as I did before. But whatever I do it's on ME. Nobody else. No bitching or anything, it's my fault I continue to eat like a fat fuck. I'm happy with the current deal because at least this motivates me and I know for sure it works, I didn't rely on a fad diet or anything. I just believed in CICO. The amount of calories I put in by eating like a fat fuck have to be offset by the amount of running I do consistently. Once the running stops, I better eat less or else. My whole "diet" was built around that premise. Let's see what happens if I don't change how I eat but I just exercise a shit ton. It worked out, so whenever people say CICO is bullshit I laugh, because I lived through it personally.

I didn't say it would take months. If you are obese then you have an unhealthy emotional relationship with food that will need visits to a doctor or something to help fix. If you are simply overweight then all you need to do is make a few adjustments to your lifestyle.

Took me about a year to undo a lot of the bullshit I gave myself prior. It was a grind and I still need to do periodic maintenance and not backslide.

Oh no not saying it's you saying that, it's just that mentality of people is what I mean. It takes years to get obese, it doesn't happen overnight, why would people expect to get skinny over night from a fad diet or whatever program they follow to lose weight. It's gonna take an equal amount of time to lose it. The same effort you put in to get fat is the same if not more effort you need to put in to lose weight. Granted eating feels easier than exercising it's still an effort to put back 3 big macs in a row.

Nice job man, and it is indeed a grind, but once you pull it off once, you keep an eagle eye on your weight. Even if you do regain it back at least you KNOW you can lose it, you've already done it once.

Because they do these extreme FAD diets that show some results within 2 weeks because of how extreme they are and end up ditching them shortly. Think of it as starting a marathon by outright sprinting lol.

Losing weight is an entire lifestyle change so in a way it is hard but the only thing hard about it is battling your habits and mindset. I lost 50 lbs since May or June just by eating less with light exercise. I'm at 150 now and I'm planning to lose another 10.

It actually might even be more difficult to gain weight, because even if you boost appetite through exercising, you're still going to burn the calories you ate

You need an extreme amount of exercise to burn calories. It takes miles of jogging to burn like 300 calories which is like a glass and a half of milk. Gaining weigh for skinny people is hard cuz they either have a small a apetite or don't have access to a lot of high calorie food.

What works for one person isn't going to be the universal go-to for everyone on the planet. Everyone has a different metabolism, body structure, and genes. 1500 calories of pizza and McDonalds, versus 1500 calories of lean meats, fruits and vegetables are two entirely different things also. It's isn't simply calorie count, you need to factor in trans fats, sugars, and carbs, and it matters significantly on how your body processes the foods you eat.

Indeed. My tip is to make it an empowering and defining aspect. When you say "I can't have that brownie, I'm trying to lose weight :(" that denial will itch at you and the odds of a backslide are high and soon I might be tongue-deep in some brownie batter. If I say "I don't eat brownies, but thanks", then, well, there's less of a monkey on my back.

For a lot of people it isnt as easy as that. Thyroid issues cause issues with it, as well as body type. I have a super easy time losing weight, but it's hard AF to gain muscle; my roomate can gain muscle like no one else I know, but also gains weight like a mofo if he doesnt actively work at keeping it off.

Somatypes are fucking bullshit if that's what you mean by "body type", as those can indeed change over time.

Thyroid issues are indeed a factor, but for <5% of the population. "Doctor's note or gtfo" when it comes to internet denizens claiming such, not "I watched Dr Phil talk about it once, so surely it must apply to me"

Meat will stay in your digestive tract for at least 3 days, so if you eat a half pound burger on Monday, a half pound of chicken tenders on Tuesday, and a giant pound of steak the day on Wednesday, that's 2 pounds of food that sitting there rotting away and festering in your gut. You're eating junk every day and you never give your system time to clean itself out and purge the toxins. That's why fasting is extremely powerful for boosting health.

Worked for me and I didn't even change my diet, just exercised more. I'm sure there's thyroid issues and other mitigating factors, but if you're telling yourself it's that and not a doctor telling you that, you're holding yourself back.

I'd love to see the case study of someone who legitimately exercises (I'm talking hard exercise maintaining a high heart rate for an hour) AND limits their calories and doesn't lose weight after a month of doing it. It sounds physically and chemically impossible to not lose weight. Conservation of energy levels of bullshittery happening if you don't lose weight after that. I can't believe a thyroid or some other mitigating factor that trumps that. I'd understand if there's fatigue issues however that prevents high energy exercise or hormonal issues, but it'll still lose to both diet and exercise at the same time. It just has to work.

You're missing the point. Fat people, by and large, know they are overeating. They also know the solution is to eat less. This is because fat people aren't developmentally disabled.

Parasites exist within meat (especially pork) and glyphosate has been known and proven to chelate key nutrients and kill friendly gut bacteria that work to eliminate pathogens, among other things. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3945755/)

I was a fat person at 255 (obese actually), and I knew I was overeating, and I refused to stop overeating. I just made it so I exercised more. It isn't solely just eating less but it can be a crucial component, it's literally your determination to lose weight. Whether it's exercise or through a dietary change you're gonna have to figure it out.

I think people just need to start somewhere and both eating less or exercising more seem like way too much effort. But I do know some people who just did a simple diet plan where they're given things to eat delivered to them and the only eat that and lose weight. It's essentially eating less but portioned out and prepared for them which is often the hard part for people to figure out on their own.

What I always say is weight loss is simple, but not easy. What I did to lose 60 lbs was calculated my basal metabolic rate and kept my calorie consumption to that. I also walked all the time.

The even harder part is maintaining it. At least with weight loss you are seeing progress. If you weigh in a couple of pounds lighter it can be a real motivator. But just looking at the same number over and over again isnt very motivating.
