It's really lazy writing when the best reason you can come up with for a major characters return, with zero foreshadowing, is "somehow".

There was literally zero build up to the Palpatine reveal in Ep9. In Ep7 and 8, there was never even as much as a single hint, of Palpatine's possible survival. And the absolute worst part was that it wasn't even a reveal. It was just someone saying that Palpatine was back.

His entire "reveal" had no impact, and it is by far the worst thing to happen to Star Wars since Jar Jar Binks.

The real issue isn't that Poe didn't tell us. It's that Poe knows everything the audience does and nothing more is ever revealed. It felt like it was calling itself out.

The somehow line is the worse . Because think about it. Palpatine already announced himself. Then Poe and crew die getting information on this. And information just says it true and not much else. So beyond just being silly it was a waste of like 15 mins of the movie.

THE DEAD SPEAK is arguably worse because it essentially starts the movie off with hey we dont know how to bring Palpatine back so when we start our movie hes already going to be back and the Somehow line is them saying and were definitely not going to tell you why hes back.

Its absurd that they let so many crucial details go unexplored in these movies knowing that eventually theyll be explained for them in books and stuff.

The first mistake was killing off Snoke in TLJ because that's what ultimately led to them bringing back Palpatine. If anything, the throne room scene in TLJ should have happened in TROS instead. Then they wouldn't have needed to bring back Palpatine in order to fill the void that was left after Snoke's death.

'The Dead Speak' caused me to laugh out loud - quite sardonically, I might add - when I saw it in theaters. The very first line of the entire movie painted what was to come as one big joke, and the movie never really deviated from that first impression. So that gets my vote.
