I remember the early rumors of a mobile-hybrid after the Wii U. And I knew immediately "That's a great idea.", to combine their home and mobile markets, and that the technology was basically there now to do that in a way not seen before. I was surprised to see there were actually people trashing it saying it will never work. Silly

Disgusting. Outside of Odyssey, Star Allies, and Luigi's Mansion 3 all the Switch first party installments are the absolute worst games of their franchises and some of the worst of all time. Hell, I'd argue Pokmon Sword/Shield is THE worst game of all time with all the damage it has caused. Dexit, minimal content in the base game, the money grubbing scheme with the expansions which basically only have like 2 hours worth of new content at the most.....

Nintendo (and Game Freak) should not be getting rewarded for making worse games. I mean, what the hell did we let Wii U fail for if not the bad games?

Nope. Luigi's Mansion 3 was the last one.

And you know why it turned out so good? Because it wasn't even made by Nintendo, but Next Level Games. THEY know how to listen to the fans and give us what we wanted all along: LM1 but longer.

His shtick is being an angry old man who hates everything(except Kirby) especially modern Nintendo(I think his cutoff point for "good nintendo" is early Wii/DS era with Mario Galaxy and Pokemon Diamond/Pearl IIRC?)

I'm gonna guess because they got a price cut, so they flew off the shelves. Or maybe it's because the Wii bubble had more or less burst by that point, and even with improvements to the PS3, a lot of AAA games had more technically polished 360 versions.

And with the system's lifecycle about to go into decline, I imagine the digital deals would have been pretty great too. So yeah - I think it's either related to price, or Xbox having a more consistent reputation than the competition.

It came out first in its console generation so Gamecube and Xbox were the hot item for a time. Switch came out years after PS4 and Xbox One so everyone already had those during its run.

This doesn't seem incredibly surprising to me. Of the current generation, the PS4 and XB1 are 7 years old and their successors were planned for quite some time, so I would expect their sales to be declining. Meanwhile the Switch is only 3.5 years old and Nintendo is continuing to keep it in demand through both a solid game library and their infamous hardware supply throttling, so I would expect its sales to be more steady. I like my Switch and all, but I'd be more impressed if it cracks a more objective milestone, like say, 100 million sold, rather than just showing solid sales over a period of time with reduced competition.

Im honestly surprised that the PS2 didnt hold that record with like 36+ months, considering how it absolutely spanked the competition:

PS2: 155 million units (released in 2000)
Xbox: 24 million units (released in 2001)
GameCube: 22 million units (released in 2001)

The next big console release was Xbox 360 in 2005.

Im guessing that the GBA would be the only thing responsible for it at any point beyond the first few months when all the consoles came out? It was also released in 2001 and had 81 million units sold. I cant imagine the Xbox or GameCube did much to be competitive in most months beyond the launch.

Nintendo DS was released around the same time (a bit earlier) and sold 154 million units. Id think that woulda interrupted the 360 at some point. Unless this record isnt counting handhelds (and if thats the case, it makes my PS2 question even more puzzling).
