It's the most mundane movie ever until they cut to the guy remembering his abduction and what happens to him is positively terrifying and probably the scariest depiction of abduction ever and I don't know that there's anything that comes close. It just triggers everything and it scared the shit out of me as a child ON TV IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY. ~~It's such a jarring tonal change which is probably why it's so effective to contrast the rest of the movie that is extremely grounded. The plot is phenomenal, and not just "for a horror show", but overall. The directing is out of this world good--there's an episode that was done in two continuous shots and it's just so clever how it's done. It's really that good of a show. Enjoy episode 5, Zen!
